New TARDIS interior next year? What?

Comics industry insider and long-time Doctor Who fan Rich Johnson casually dropped this little bit over at his Bleeding Cool website:
Rich Johnson said:
DoctorWatch: It was a pig to film. The shooting angles were all wrong. There were too many reflective surfaces. And they’re changing it next year. But dammit I thought the fifth series TARDIS interior was very very cool indeed...

Now, the only thing that makes me wonder if this is true is that it might be difficult to film in and that Johnson does have a fairly good track record regarding Who spoilers (he did get it right before most that the Doctor was the one to be locked up in the Pandorica and that there may have been more than one Doctor running around in various episodes)...

It'd be nice if they could get back some of the expansiveness of the RTD console room. I know it's physically bigger, but it's just so full that it's hard to get that sense from it.

I want them to move back to the more traditional console room from the original series, for one thing, I think the interior should be all white.

I did read similar rumours a few months back, I believe changes are on the way.

Yeah here was the report

From Roobarbs forum - a worrying report..

"Apparently Tracie Simpson, Ed Thomas and Ray Holman (Costume Designer) have all left the series pretty abruptly.
There's also talk of the TARDIS set having to be redesigned / replaced due to it causing multiple shooting problems, which won't be cheap. "

hmm wonder if the cost of the costume designers leaving will off set the cost to replace the interior tardis set design?? it was very busy and hard to make out at times..

also, I wonder what effect the removal of those costume designers, and the tardis will have on the overall quality and budget of the show..

as for bringing back an old style tardis set, that could easily be explained since they all apparently remain in the ship..

Changing the desktop setting so soon? Meh, this console room never really clicked for me that much. It looks so cramped. And also, I don't get why this one is a hodge-podge of random appliances like a typewriter, old-fashioned televsion screen and what not. The RTD one was explained as the Doctor replacing components with whatever was laying around, but this one was a hodge-podge fresh out of its repair/restoration.

Oh well, bring on leopard print!

Count me as apparantly one of the few people who liked this console room, Though if we are brining back old console rooms, can I put my vote down for the gothic castle now, maybe just loose a few of the clocks.

Here's hoping they bring back a more organic look for the TARDIS. The TARDIS should look like it's alive, like it's grown.

I wonder if this one is still floating around in there.

Otherwise, I wouldn't mind the McGann version making a comeback.

The only thing I liked about the fifth-season console room was the "fresnel lens" ceiling, which was a nice tip of the hat to a hanging fixture from the earliest Hartnell episodes.

I'm sorry to hear this. I think the current "magpie" look fits very well with Matt Smith's Doctor. Hopefully they'll just find ways to open it up without changing the console or the feel of the space.
