New Star Wars animated show "Rebels" coming fall 2014

Dave Filoni discussed Rebels at Star Wars Celebration Europe, and revealed the logo and some concept art. Here's the live blog of the panel, and here is the title and concept art:

I hope this is as good as The Clone Wars ended up being. I really really really hope they pick up some of TCW loose threads. The art looks pretty cool but I'm disappointed there wasn't any footage to reveal.

Yes.
I read the live blog the other day, and he implied that we will be seeing some characters from TCW.

Will Rebels continue storylines from The Clone Wars? Filoni is non-commital, but says, “I love all Star Wars characters, especially the ones I created.”

I'm glad that there'll be crossover character appearances from Clone Wars. The new Disney overlords might not want to stick to every single piece of continuity from the recent Prequel-era series but as long as they show a general overall respect for what came before and throw in a few references here and there for the fans I'll be glad.

Greg Weisman was born to writer Emperor Palpatine. This is a perfect combination in my opinion.

I dunno... I'm not sure Palps is a subtle or intelligent enough character to be up to Weisman's standards of villain writing. Not every bad guy can be a Xanatos.

I know its been a while but...

I don't know Weisman's Doc Ock was a pretty cartoony super villain and he sure as hell didn't seem subtle.

The Prequel-era Y-Wings with their full armor, original colors and gleaming finishes did look great. A nice touch of continuity I'm glad they used, because in older reference materials dating back to even before the three Prequel films were made the Y-Wing Fighter was referred to as a Republic-era craft that had seen better days and was a relic of spacecraft manufacturing before the rise of the Empire.

Judging by the Ghost people who are into starships will love this. I hope we will see some ships from Galaxies and the Gladiator class.

Will they let it have an ending?

Well they won't have to worry about being cancelled by an outside influence, so it really depends how carefully they plan it. I mean since this is between III+IV, after 2015 a series between VI+VII might be on the cards.

So I wouldn't be surprised if they just aimed for 100 episodes, 4 seasons.
