That last McCoy line... classic.

I liked "Shut up, Spock! We're trying to SAVE you, damnit!" 100% classic Bones / De Kelley. Awesome.

There was a similar line in the Immunity Syndrome if I'm not mistaken. I haven't seen it lately.

It's even better in "The Immunity Syndrome" because of Spock's response. Spock says, "Do not risk the ship further on my behalf." McCoy replies, "Shut up, Spock! We're rescuing you," and kind of nods to Kirk like he's put Spock in his place. Spock's reply is, "Why, thank you, Captain McCoy." Great moment in a very good character episode for the "big three."
I'll take a wild guess and say they can't use it due to some sort of interference from all the volcanic activity.
But I totally don't buy the idea that the Enterprise, with it's shields, couldn't survive a measely *volcano*...seriously?
It's weird that you were expecting something else. I guess there's always some hipster film festival on somewhere where you can go check some profound movies that cost $600 to make.Thank you for posting this clip. I watched it as well as the 3 trailers, none of which I had yet seen. I poked around the forum and am sad to say that I still cannot generate the slightest interest in this film. None of the trailers hint at any story more compelling than yet another generic Hollywood summer action movie with a standard motivating factor for the main characters of "let's go get that son of a bitch bad guy".
Hardly a new concept for Kirk. They also seem to be continuing with the characterization of Kirk as a reckless rule breaker ('cause everyone knows rebels are cool - at least in generic Hollywood action pictures).
Blandness? No, now you're confusing summer Hollywood blockbusters with cheaply made, whiny hipster indy films.I'll still give kudos to the cast who seem valiantly to be trying to scrape some sense of their iconic characters out of the Olive Garden fettucini alfredo blandness of the whole thing.
Tell me about it!*sigh*
Also, is this preview the same few minutes that was screened in front of The Hobbit a few month ago, just de-3D'd?
This is why the Federation needs a cloaking device! Interesting though, in Picard's time in the "Prime universe", Picard and crew would debate endlessly about how even stopping the volcano, and saving the primative planet's people, is a "vi...olation of the Prime Directive" in and of itself. Something that I've never actually liked, as I consider it putting to letter of the law about it's true spirit. But really, Kirk in the original timeline wouldn't hesitate to break the Prime Directive, so considering doing so to save Spock (and you *know* that he WILL) is consistent with his character as we know him.
But I totally don't buy the idea that the Enterprise, with it's shields, couldn't survive a measely *volcano*...seriously? This ship has flown close around the *Sun* - practically through it's corona! That's what hotter than a volcano! Can we please get a science adviser to Hollywood, stat!
