It makes sense, and it's probably a good idea to get people used to the idea early.

Should the new actors put their own mark on these iconic characters...as professional actors do you feel they are somehow entitled to portray a character in their own special way even if that character's style is so important and so loved by so many. Discuss.....

There's no other reason to take the job, really, if the actor has any talent and any other opportunities. Reinterpretation is inevitable.

I hope not, that Quinto's a "new" spin on the character Spock dosent mean Spock will be cutting people brains out(Syler) in XI movie.
