After it was accidently leaked a couple days ago, yesterday Lucasfilm and EA official revealed their next big Star Wars game, a new space combat game called Star Wars: Squadrons. Squadrons takes place after Return of the Jedi, and the player characters will be both a New Republic X-Wing pilot, and an Imperial TIE-Fighter pilot.
Here's the trailer

I didn't notice her, but they pointed out in the 5 Highlights from the Star Wars: Squadrons Trailer article on StarWars.com that Hera is in scene with the New Republic pilots getting their orders.

Gonna wait for gameplay footage on this one. EA's not been the best at these things, and I'd rather have something closer to an X-wing/TIE Fighter game, that a Rebel Assault or Rogue Squadron, game.

It's first person only
the single player campaign will show both New Republic and Imperial perspective and is set after ROTJ
The New Republic squadron is called "Vanguard" the Imperial one is called "Titan"
There are no Microtransactions.
There is power distribution similar to the old 90s flight sims,
There are cosmetics and ship upgrades you earn via gameplay.
Multiplayer is 5v5, there are pure dogfighting modes and objective based modes.
The steam page does say there is co-op, but that might just mean that the PvP is team based.
Wedge and Hera are in the trailer, and there will be more character than those two.
Crossplay between PC and consoles
PS4 and PC have full VR support
PC will support Joysticks and HOTAS setups.

Gameplay will be shown off Thursday during the EA Play event.

the cockpit view seems to be inspired by those old 90s flight sims

I'm the opposite, I don't want to have to deal with anything to complicated, I just want to blow shit up.:klingon:

This looks great. And it looks like there will be fairly deep, maybe not as much as a full on flight sim, but still more than just flying around blowing shit up mindlessly.
The database on StarWars.com has been updated with some entries for Squadrons already.
Did we see Rae Sloane at one point in the new trailer?

Getting pretty excited about this. Hopefully this will be what I have been waiting for since X-Wing Alliance. Will have to wait and see.

IGN talked to the game's creative director, Ian S. Frazier, about it's extensive customization options. Along with all of the displays in you're ship's cockpit, it'll also have some other HUD elements to help you get around, but you will have the option to turn them off, so that you can only rely on you're cockpit displays. The game will also allow you to personalize both the cockpit and exterior of you're ship, but if all you want to see is the base ship for both yourself and other people's ships, the personalization stuff can be turned off. You will also be able to determine how much you want to control the power management, the default will be for pretty much everything to be controlled with just a push of a button, but if you want you can set it to give you more precise control over everything.

I imagine you can shift the keybinding.

I use to have the power allocation and power shifting on the HAT switch on my joystick.
