New Sonic Screwdriver

My only problem with that is it elevates it well above being just a 'screwdriver' to the point that it should really have a less humble name.

The differences are minor enough that I'm not bothered either way. I don't particularly care for the "three-pronged" bit but I don't find it a problem. I did like how it was green in "The Eleventh Hour" which in quick-paced episodes is a more noticeable difference than the casing, but it seems to be back to blue. Oh well.

Kind of like how "the Doctor" is something of a humble name? ;)

Not that it particularly bugs me or anything, but River Song's sonic screwdriver was clearly based on 9/10's one, and not the new one.

*sigh* I caved in and ordered mine from Amazon this afternoon. Between this one, the 9/10 screwdriver, and the River Song version, I need to find a lot of shelves to put up.

Interesting how Smith uses it on the show. He only extends the prongy bits when he's looking at it's "readings" after a scan. Kind of the opposite of how Eccleston and Tennant used theirs.

I wonder if that was the intention by the designers, or just the quirky method Smith came up with himself...

Either way, I think it works. And I think the design really fits Smith too. It's odd and clunky, just like his Doctor. :)
