New Smallville Trailer

Broccoli

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I just watched this trailer on YouTube for upcoming episodes of Smallville. It heavily showed scenes from "Absolute Justice" including a shot of Dr. Fate.

I also couldn't help but notice a shot of Sandman and what looked like a Green Lantern right.

Do those sneaky producers have stuff up their sleeves for us?

Holy crap, that actually looks awesome! Sandman, Dr. Fate, Green Lantern and at the end, there's a painting (looks like Alex Ross did it) of the ENTIRE 40's roster of the JSA. That's alot of heroes to have been running around in costume.

Betting Dr Fate wiped their existance from collective memory or something like that.

Oh yeah, and friggin awesome trailer.

These secret heroes from WWII could have had to all disappear in the 50's due to Mcarthyism. Of course that would not explain Hawkmans age, unless he doesnt.

According to interviews, the Smallville version of the JSA were active during the 70s or 80s. Maybe a reaction to the excesses of the Cold War. Guess we'll see.

Wow. That trailer was freaking awesome. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest when I saw Fate.

And that green ring was pleasant surprise, too. For those expecting a Green Lantern like the one seen on, say, the Justice League cartoon, don't give your hopes up. Considering we're dealing with the JSA, it's a safe bet GL will be Alan Scott.

who is he?

Yeah, there was a time not too long ago when I had never heard of him either. Sandman is one of the more obscure DC heroes.

The original Sandman, Wesley Dodd

I tried my best to make out who's in the portrait. Who I got (left to right):

???
Wildcat
Atom
Sandman
Spectre
Flash
Hawkman
Hawkgirl
Doctor Fate
Green Lantern
Hourman?
???
Black Canary?
Doctor Mid-Nite? or Starman?

The first one on the left (beside Wildcat) is the Star-Spangled Kid. The last guy on the right is Mr. Terrific. Looks like Doctor Mid-Nite is on the other side of Black Canary.

After going over the roster, I considered Statr-Spangled Kid, but the guy in the portrait looked way too old to be referred to as "Kid".

As I recall, Sly Pemberton kept that name for some time until finally changing it to "Skyman," but the costume is definitely the Star-Spangled Kid's, and the model for Courtney Whitmore's costume when she became the Kid before adopting the Stargirl moniker (though Smallville will probably not bother with that detail).
