Hi, It has taken about 4 years but me and few friends have finally finished Star Ranger 7: A Force Of One. it is an original sci-fi action film with over 500 visual effects shots.

All the sets, ships are original as well... if you have the time check out my little film at www.starranger7.com, there is no advertisements and all the content is free to view, I made the film for fun...
any kind of feedback is welcome...

thanks,
mk

You should put it on Youtube. The convenience of streaming it (via an interface almost anyone can use) would allow a lot more people to see it. Many (including myself) aren't willing to download several megabytes (in your case, more than 100) without even knowing if they'll like it.

Thanks, I do have the trailers and a few behind videos on youtube.

The movie is to long 20 minutes and we did not want to break the movie up into parts.
On the site I have better control over the quality of the compression. I hope
you enjoyed the film.

Re: Trailer and behind videos on youtube

Congrats on the film, mkimball7!

I'll go ahead and move this to the Fan Productions forum as that is the proper place for this thread! :)

Congrats on getting that finished! I know how much work something like that is!

That said, I have to admit I couldn't sit through the whole thing, though. Space battles as plot don't hold my attention, and after five minutes of it, I'd had enough.

I'm sure there are others who will dig it, though.'

I'll be honest. It was so larded down with video-game-derived cliches that I could only make it a quarter of the way through before giving up. Next time, come up with a unique vision, something that is worth putting all this effort into. Some generic space fight between Star Wars bounty hunters and "tough guys" with eyepatches isn't it.

Thanks it was a lot of work but a blast to make with a few of my friends...

The film is really has two parts, first half is the attack like Pearl Harbor and the second half is like Diehard but in outer space.

I really a appreciate your feedback.

I'm watching it now. It's a pretty amazing use of technology.

How extensive was your stage space, if you don't mind the question? What tools did you use for the 3D?

I'm happy to answer any questions... I work for a production company so I had access to our Green Screen Studio which is big enough to fit a car, but it is tight. the paint is rosco digital green. The film has about 587 Visual effect shots and the final out of pocket budget was about $950 dollars.

Software used: Luxology Modo for modeling, Maxon's Cinema 4D for lighting, animation and rendering, Poser 7 for the Digital Dark Guards, Bodypaint and Photoshop for texture maps, Fxhome's EfectsLab Pro for the gun blasts, After Effects for Compositing, Primatte Keyer from Red giant Software (great keyer for dv and HD footage), Apple motion , Final Cut Pro for editing, nuendo for all the sound design.

This is easily the most sophisticated and extensive use of digital sets and green screen that I've seen in a "fan" film. Conceptually, it reminds me a little of "Sky Captain."

The sound design is excellent.
