New Series Wishlist

David Tennant as the Meta Crisis Doctor, turned or turning into the Valeyard. Preferably, against Capaldi, ending in a cliffhanger that'd spawn several BF audios.

Other than that, for now, I'd like a consistent run of imaginatively lively episodes, complete with good storytelling and an actual story arc that can make at least a semblance of sense (unlike the last two series).

I'd like:
-A pure historical
-a B5/DS9 homage set on a space station with lots of newwho races like Raxafallapatorians, Sycorax, Judoon, Graske, Hoix, Tritovores etc as well as classic who ones like Monoids, Sensorites, Mutts, Alpha Centaurians, Arcturans, Vegans, Fomasi, Argolans, Terileptils, Mentors,Posicarians, Morgarians, Navarinos, etc
-Give the Daleks, Cybermen and Weeping Angels a break

I wouldn't mind the Weeping Angels, so long they're the main villains and not side villains like they'd been for so long now.

Cyberman and Daleks, however... just retire them for a decade. Its enough. Won't happen, of course, but poor Cybermen haven't had one halfway great story at all since the show's return. Damn.

We know Daleks will be in the season, Bill's introductory video is apparently set-up for an episode in the new season. As for Cybermen and Weeping Angels, I'll be surprised if neither of them are in the new season.

I've been wanting this for a long time but I doubt we'll ever get one because everyone is accustomed to aliens involved in every episode.

Truth be told, the only reason we had pure historicals in the first place is because of the nature of Doctor Who in the first place, as a teaching tool.

I would love this to happen, but it'll never come to pass. It would cost way too much money.

Note: I know most of my list is definitely unlikely, but it is a "wish" list:

- An appearance by a classic Who companion like Susan or Romana
- An appearance by a pre-Clara NuWho companion/ally (Jack Harkness, Mickey/Martha, etc)
- The return of a Classic Who alien/creature we haven't seen on NuWho yet (like the Yeti or Rutan's)
- The return of The Rani or The Monk
- an episode set on Galifrey
- Absolutely no Clara, no hint of her or even a reference
- No modern UNIT (meaning no Kate Stewart or Osgood)
- No Zygons
- Less Moffat stories
- An appearance by Missy
- Less multi part stories
- The Valeyard (an official backstory and fate)
- A multi Doctor team up (I know this won't happen, but I can dream)
- The new companion is just a regular person, not a "impossible girl" type companion
- The Doctor as the main character over the companion
- An episode that is something of a sequel or continuation of a Classic Who story (like returning to an old planet and seeing what's happening, stuff like that)
- Less modern Earth and definitely less London/Cardiff

- The Valeyard (an official backstory and fate)
Good list and I agree overall (except no Kate). For this particular item, I would highly recommend checking out Big Finish's The Last Adventure boxset which explores the Valeyard's character and fate with Michael Jayston reprising the role alongside Colin Baker. It's probably the best thing you'll ever get regarding the Valeyard.

I actually own the boxset (I don't like Big Finish, but as a huge 6th Doctor fan I had to get it when Amazon had it for a great price). Its fine as far as Big Finish goes, but I consider BF to be on the same level as fan fiction, so I don't count it as "official" in any way. As far as I'm concerned, The Valeyard just appeared then disappeared without much explanation (and the 6th Doctor regenerated because he hit his head on the TARDIS console when The Rani attacked the TARDIS).

As for Kate, I used to like her and modern UNIT. I still do mostly like her as a character, although she is a bit of an idiot. But the Zygon two parter really irritaited me, and I just don't want to see modern UNIT anymore. Kate and UNIT were just kind of tainted by the terrible two parter, and if she/they do show up I'd want it to be 2-4 years down the road, and without the Zygons or Osgood.

Ignore what Kirk said after your post, the BBC wouldn't actively go out of their way to disprove BF, especially not with a high-profile sale as this. Which, btw, basically did what Trial of a Time Lord, but in a shrewder, longer term. Basically, it ended Six's life with him, and because of him - similar to how Colin Baker's career as the Doctor ended on TV with the Valeyard, and because of the storyline he was in. So, it mirrored Colin's end as Six on TV, which was certainly fitting, and revealed little about the character that could always be dispelled as untrue if needed anyway.

My point is, for BBC to actively disavow The Last Adventure, they'd have to go out of their way to say that he only met the Valeyard once, and that he knows exactly how his regeneration was caused, and describe the said event.

I never said BBC would ignore it, and I never said that the BBC/Doctor Who producers didn't count Big Finish. I said that I consider Big Finish to be Fan fiction, and that I wished that the BBC would give an official on screen explanation/ending for The Valeyard. I never said anything about the BBC's opinion on the matter, just my personal opinion as a fan of Doctor Who on Big Finish and their legitimacy compared to the on screen stuff.

That said, if Chris Chibnail really loved Colin Baker and wanted to tie a story into The Valeyard/6's regeneration, no way anyone at BBC would say "You can't contradict what Big Finish did". Its just that NuWho doesn't care enough about Classic Who to tie into stuff like that, which is fair enough.

tbh Clasic who didn't care about Classic Who that much what with different takes on TimeLord society, 3 different reasons for the destruction of Atlantis, differing reasons for the Daleks origins, etc

If anything, under Moffat the show's affiliation with OldWho has become stronger. Maybe not as explicit as some fans wish it were, but the references and what-not are almost constant. I wonder how Chibanil will handle that.

I'm just saying that if Chibnail wanted to tell a story that directly contradicts a BF story he could and BBC wouldn't say anything about it, but he won't because building off of specific Classic Who stories isn't really something that NuWho does, and neither is specifically referencing adventures of Classic Who Doctors. Yeah, the current Doctor will throw in some mentions here and there, and make jokes about inconsistencies in the old show, but its not like we'll ever here him talk about specific things. Heck, to this day Sarah Jane and K-9 are the only Classic companions to ever appear on the main NuWho series (not counting SJ Adventures), so the Classic connections aren't that much. Its basically a goofy line every so often, and sometimes a video showing some old faces for a few seconds. I think you could count on one hand the number of times Doctors 9-12 actually mention an old companion (old meaning pre-9th Doctor) by name (outside of the episode with SJ and K-9, obviously). The show is still obviously a continuation of Classic Who, but its not nearly as connected to the old show as, say, the Star Trek tv shows are to one another.

* The Valeyard, preferably as this season's "big bad"
* More Davros, maybe an episode with just Davros and no Daleks (or just a cameo of a Dalek)
* Jack Harkness
* Galifrey, mostly to see the effects of bringing it back
* More good than bad episodes (although everyone wants this)
* Capaldi to stay for series 11
* Perhaps a multi-Master story (although this would be better for the character's 50th anniversary in 2021)
* If Missy shows up, an episode/story where she's the main villain and without that Scottish accent

Things going wrong, the Doctor and his companion(s) showing up and fixing them, then leaving again in the TARDIS. If there's an arc, have it WAAY in the background. This is the only show in my life I enjoy more episodically than serially.

Actually I agree with most of Kirk5555's list, I'd add if the Daleks must come back give them a slight redesign
