New Series Computer Voice

If we assume the new series will be set at a time where the computer systems on board the ship have voice input and output. Do we think it would be a good or bad idea, to find someone from the Berman era to provide the voice?

Or should it be someone entirely new.

And on a broader point. Male or Female voice?

another thought is should the computer voice be in a similar manner and style with a female voice to VOY and ENT?
I have read that research has shown people respond better to information given by a female voice. Most of the computer's speaking is informational for the crew.

Enterprise didn't have a computer voice. Except for once. The Mirror Universe two-parter had the NX interfaces with a stern male voice, and Majel of course aboard the 23rd Century Defiant they were plundering,

I'm tempted to suggest Nichelle Nichols do it. Maybe Linda Park. But not really knowing when this is set, I don't know whether there's somebody more appropriate. I mean 25th Century and the computer might be represented by a holographic person, if that's not too much like Andromeda. Requires more than an occasional bit of voice-over work. More regular cast member status.

Bridget Hoffman. Most known for her extensive cartoon/anime/VG work, she did do the computer voice on Eureka.

Along those same lines, but with an English color, Joanna Wyatt.

While no doubt wholly sexist, I do think it should be a woman. It's just part of the ambiance and mystique.

For what it's worth, I think Terry Farrell's voice would work well, but I don't know if she would be interested in returning to Trek. Having a Trek alumni would be neat, but I guess it depends on what works for the era this new show is set in. It should feel natural, and not distracting.

Farrell's acting is certainly wooden, stilted, and emotionless enough, even if unintentional.

Seriously, the choice for who could do the voice is virtually unlimited. The main thing is they shouldn't be too distinctive, i.e. not a celebrity voice (sorry, Shatner).

I definitely like the idea of Nichelle Nichols doing the voice.... but, I think it should be Marina Sirtis as a sort of homage to Majel.

Marina would be a good choice, as long as she sticks to her normal voice, and not try to revive the "exotic" accent used during the TNG show

I didn't know Terry Farrell was getting involved with Renegades. I was always a fan of Jadzia Dax. Maybe she could be an option.
