New, Revised Nacelle Configuration

Variations of the this ship I have worked on before. It is inspired by Submarines and the DY-type ships, although the end result also resembled the XCV-330. This time, instead of the toroidal and annular structures for the drive section, I've worked on a middle type of structure between that and a nacelle.

Make components. I can't stress it enough. With components, you make one object, copy-paste it and you're golden. Every change in one object transfers over to the others, meaning an edit has to be done only once.
I know these are not components because one of the nacelles has an aft-face present, while the rest does not. Just a tip...

What @BorgMan said.
This tutorial covers the some of the basics:

Also, modeling 1/2 of a symmetrical object and then creating a mirror of the half at the end of your modeling can save you time. And , IIRC, you can mirror a component without breaking the "linkage" . Could be very useful in updating a nacelle design after you've mirrored and placed the pair.

Yes, copying, mirroring and scaling (select and scale without opening) a component does not make it unique. You'll have to actively tell a component that it needs to be so before it breaks the link.

Definitely need to be better at that. I used components for yet another version of this, but had trouble getting the pasted component to go where I wanted it too. I have spent years NOT watching all the tutorials that would get me to understand how to do exactly that. I have to get over this "I am an idea person" bullshit. That's fine when you are a Producer and can just hand your ideas off to the Art Department people and let them make it work. I am the Art person, and just need to learn craft here.

Still a cool ship :)

Thank you. Instead of learning how to bring anyone design to a more complete state, I just start another project. Have over 100 ships in my folder. All get to about this level of doneness, and then I start another one.

Trust me, you'll get there. From what I gather, you've had a rough patch with some of SketchUp's basics. Get to those tutorials, ask me specific questions, and we'll get you at a higher level in no time!
