While we've never allowed NSFW stuff including pornography, it is no longer permissible to post images that are borderline, such as those containing:
- strategically covered nudity
- sheer/see-through clothing
- lewd/provocative poses
- close-ups of breasts, buttocks, crotches

For you fan-ficcers, erotic stories and/or descriptions of sexual acts are not allowed, nor are threads containing sexually explicit jokes, crude language and/or excessive amounts of profanity.

When in doubt, ask a mod, or just don't. This includes linking to same.

These posts (and threads devoted to same) will be removed from the BBS.

Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.

What happened do all of my works?

ST C.O.E Mission to of Bajor, Books 1, 2, & 3 are gone.

I have been posting for two years, without any complaints.

Is there a technical problem or is it my work?

A little feed back would be appreciated.

T'Bonz, do you need for me to edit my sig line? The Adult Trek Anthology has stuff in it that's NC-17 equivalent, but it's behind a registration requirement (by Issuu). Please let me know at your convenience; thank you.

Unfortunately, those stories were deemed to be in violation of the new posting rules. You can discuss this in more detail via PM with either one of the mods here (currently me and RevdKathy) or with T'Bonz.

I'm afraid I didn't see the stories, so you'd be better of asking the Count. I'm just getting up to speed with the forum and the new rules. My main focus at the moment is 'remodding' all the legacy threads to make sure they fit the new regime.

The link itself shouldn't be a problem but the word combination of "adult Trek" could be. It would be great if you could amend that accordingly. :)

I changed it to Over-18. If that's still an issue, I can even remove it, no prob.

Good Day, I have a question about the New Posting Rules for fan fiction.

The question is about crude language. Is this a complete and total ban on such language or a more use it wisely guideline. I have work I would like to post and I think some might contain a crude word or two. These are not major parts of the story but do shape the characters and or the situation.

Also some cultures view words differently. Is there a list of what words are considered crude and what words are okay.

As far as the rest of the rules go, I am pretty sure I am safe with them.

Thank you for your time.

I would suggest it depends on context. Any and all erotic material is definitely forbidden.

As for crude language, characters swearing etc, there are ways of 'bleeping them out' or using milder language. If your story so completely needs crude language or profanity, then maybe here is not the place for it.

As for what's acceptable, why not read a few of the stories here to get a flavour?

Yeah I had already read a few well written stories and well a few not so well written one's. I do see your point as far as context goes. I can easily see where some words are a majoy no no. That is easy enough. But there are words that as a child I was taught are also bad. This is the reason behind my question. I don't mean to create a debate. I just want to know what are the limits so I don't cross them. But I also would like to have the ability to be creative in more stronger terms and descriptions.

As for erotic scenes and writtens, completely agree.

Again thank you for the information.

If there is further questions on this topic, is there a person how fields these questions or shall I simply return to this thread for more answers in the future?

RevdKathy,

So I am currently reading the threads of Star Fleet Corps of Engineers, Mission to Bajor. I can see the issues that misunderstanding and failing to follow the rules can cause. I would like to have a means to field posts prior to posting them. This will avoid a lot of problems before they get aired to the whole BBS.

Do you mind acting as my, um, (hell I even hate using the word lol) censor? There are some posts that I fear might be considered crossing the line. Not in what they describe but in what they refer to.

So what do you say? Mind playing an important role in my stories on this board?

Oh and yes, I also have a secret agenda. Not only am I hoping to avoid any ugly issues over simple misunderstandings. My secret agenda is to have a way to build both respect and friendship between us. :)

It would be nice if there were an equally strict policy against swearing. Some of the posters here are excessively casual in slinging expletives, but that's pretty much par for the course in internet discourse these days, I guess.

I only have responsibility here. What happens in other fora is not something I can comment on. If people start swearing at each other here, I will stamp it out quickly. Swearing (mildly or even moderately) within a story has to be taken on context, and that's a judgement call.

As for being anyone's unofficial censor, I'm the official one, so there's not much point. If people are trying to keep the rules rather than push them to the limit, we're happy to steer and point people if they overstep, and help them stay within the rules.

I see you've started your story, Akirapryde, and so far it's fine. :)

It's the judgement calls I am most concerned with. I fear my judgment might be more um less restrictive than others might be able to stomach lol

A gentle hand in waving me back over the line is what I am looking for. And if you are willing to do that I will be grateful. I want to follow the rules and make sure that my work is not offensive to others. As I said my weakness is in that sounds judgement others would calll common sense lol

Yes I stated my story. Glad you like it. I am double checking everything just to make sure.

Akira

I guess the response to that is 'can you learn'? Anyone can get it wrong once or twice. I don't mind 'waving you back over the line' the first or second time. It's when people go on doing what they've been told not to that we have a problem. Besides which, a step or two close to the tolerance line, in the grey judgement area, is a lot less troublesome than a clear violation - say explicit erotica.

Keep posting. If Count Zero or I see anything to worry us, we'll let you know.

I was wondering something. I see Star Trek Fan Fiction.

But is there a place to post non-Star Trek Fan Fiction? or can one use this forum?

I don't know what rule the Count applies, and I'm only the deputy here. But back in the day it was fine to post an occasional non-Trek fanfic.

Yeah I was thinking about it today cause I have some Star wars stories but wasn't sure. I will wait to hear back from Count before posting anything non-Star Trek related.

Also I had a post I would like to make but not sure if it would clear the standard. It mentions nudity but doesn't describe it. Would either of you care to proof read it before it goes up? I can email it over once it is ready.

Akira

It's okay to post non-Trek fic as long as it doesn't drown out the Trek fic. So, at the moment, it's definetely okay. As for the part of your fic that you worry about, I'd recommend just posting it. We'll let you know if it's against the rules. ;) But from what you describe it doesn't sound like it.
