Spoilers New Picard TV Series and Litverse Continuity (may contain TV show spoilers)

That certainly was a factor, though there have been reports that Berman found Behr intimidating and tried to minimize their interactions.

This reminds me of a funny story I heard meant to emphasize how little involvement Berman actually had with DS9. I don't know if it's true, but it's amusing all the same. Word is when Stephen Hawking was in studio to film his cameo on TNG, Berman took him on a tour which included a visit to DS9's Promenade set. While they were there, two behind the scenes guys took notice of them. One said "now there's someone I never expected to see on this set." The other replied "yeah, and he brought Professor Hawking with him."

Still excited for the DECONSTRUCTION of Jean-Luc Picard. But honestly Dayton Ward and David Mack have a lot to explain for in a literary sense. I don't envy them :)

So James T. Kirk can be demoted from Admiral to Captain, lose crews, a Starship, save the Earth twice and be hailed as untouchable in the sense of never losing thr rank of Captain and his ship. But Picard gets raked over the coals? It makes no sense. LOL. Damn it, Picard should have died in Nemesis and Riker should have been made captain of the Enterprise. Why does the whole oh here we go destroy our old heroes has to keep happening? Is this the end result of Kirk telling Picard dont let them promote you, remove you from the captain's chair from bridge speech?

Either way I have faith in these two GREAT authors, and I guess I will have to wait and see. But please dont go the Star Wars route without just cause or a really good reason please. Otherwise I think Picard's fall from grace will lose its impact. I never thought this would happen honestly. I guess you could say the whole 1990's argument of who was a better captain Kirk vs Picard could finally end.

In my mind both captains are awesome in their own right and should never be compared.

Riker's related to Picard? No wonder Riker stole Picard's hair hereditarily for Riker's commandly beard. LOL. But seriously, I think the long term repercussions of Picard's exposure to Kirk, was not to accept promotion and Picard and Riker were close enough that Kirk's philosophy influenced both Riker and Picard.

I hope that both Mr. Mack and Mr. Ward include some dichtomy in Picard's predicament by Picard being a captain and Riker being an Admiral. Does he spare his former captain in a way? Does he help or condemn him?

Just saying... And give something to believe in (Poison)
Something to ponder,

The first teaser for Star Trek: Picard has dropped:

Given that we're starting to find out stuff though official channels, it might be time to add a SPOILER tag to the thread, as with the Discovery counterpart.

Until then...
A couple details are given. If we're lucky, what we find out about the premise in the teaser is representative of the show's concerns, and they don't talk about anything between Nemesis and ST09, and the Countdown to Novels book(s) may be able to make a fairly smooth bridge from the novelverse to the Picard show. Hopefully less wacky than the way the comics reset to status-quo when TSFS and especially TVH came out, but I'd rather have that than nothing.

If there is to be a reconciliation, though, one thing is clear; People in Starfleet really need to stop using "You'll never be promoted again" as an under-the-table punishment. First Sisko with Worf, now Akaar with Picard. Although in Picard's case, maybe promotion was intended to be a punishment, kicking him off the field after whatever mishap happened after the Romulus rescue mission.

Yeah, hopefully this will give us enough time to transition from the books to whatever happens to make Picard leave Starfleet.

I have a feeling Star Trek Coundown comic (and thus Data's resurrection and Star Trek Online) might be steamrolled. Picard wasn't in charge of the rescue armada in Countdown, and he was an Ambassador to Vulcan, not an Admiral. Although it's possible STO may just handwave this into Picard being reinstated into Starfleet as Admiral and then leading a rescue armada immediately after Countdown, depending on how specific the Picard series is about these events.

Romulus, Remus...and where else?
Using the same maps the Discovery art department does:

Anyone else think that the voiceover could be an ad selling the new Ford or a bank or a telecoms provider?
