Spoilers New Picard TV Series and Litverse Continuity (may contain TV show spoilers)

It still happens with the current books, referencing events in stories that don't necessarily completely fit with the rest of the novel'verse.

Pocket had a nice run in the 24th century, 17 years. But it was eventually going to come to an end. If it hadn't been a new show, it would've been some kind of corporate change, new licensee at some point, new editors with their own vision for the line...

I do hope that we get a final giant novel that wraps up the major running threads from the last seventeen years.

Big Picard spoilers:
Seven of Nine.
Data.
Hugh Borg.
The Borg themselves.

Also Lower Decks is set 2380 and establishes a new TNG-style uniform for the era.

So if we presume that all the scenes we see are in the present - one scene has a sign that says:

"…has gone 5843 days without an assimilation…" so working backwards - there is no gap for the Borg to disappear and come back

What time code was that? I missed it twice.

Well, entire Destiny-and-beyond novel continuity, it was nice knowing you!

Possibly. Maybe even probably. But there may yet be wiggle room for the authors -- we'll see in 2020! :)

According to Google calculator, that's 16 years.

Did you see the tweet by Mack-Wardilmore about that they have a plan?
Unless it's "reset the timeline" I can't see how they can do it. Even another "Doomsday Bug" can't reconcile this.

Seven has her Borg implants in 2399.
There's a Borg cube, and Borg drones exist in 2399.
B4/Data is in a disassembled state, and refers to Picard as "Captain", implying a recent reactivation and no knowledge of the past 20 years.
The backstory in the "First Duty" exhibit (not all of which may make it to screen) contradicts the novelverse.

On the other hand, A Singular Destiny left some wiggle room for the idea that some drones and some aspect of the Collective may still have survived somewhere out there, seemingly overlooked by the Caeliar.

Or maybe we just have to throw most of Destiny out the window. We'll see. :)

I think there is a strong possibility that scene was a dream sequence rather than reality.

Borg are still active in other universes. In theory, it would be easy to bring them across to repopulate our universe.

Could be although I am reading that BS has said he is playing Data and not Lore or B4 - so I think they soft-retcon his body surviving in nemesis but being "dead" (which doesn't stop at the end it being a dream - trailers are often out of order).

Well that's it. Really excited for the new Picard series. Even more so after the new trailer but there's no reconciling the two continuities.

I've said before how I thought it was a shame Pocket didn't take the opportunity to give each of the series 2-3 novels to wrap up this year and maybe go out with one final crossover event series. Only TNG got an opportunity. Here's hoping the next(/last) novel is a good one.

Still hopeful that the VOY and ENT Relaunches aren't entirely over but I'm not holding my breath.

My prediction, based on no inside info whatsoever: it's a holodeck sequence.
We can see him in a mustard-colored collar, and a hint of blue-gray shoulders, so it looks like Data is wearing his FC-era uniform. It's pretty much got to be one or the other.
