New photo released: Probe, torpedo, or...

Then that's the prettiest photon torpedo I've ever seen! Shame they are destined to blow up.

I question whether or not it's a torpedo. In the 2009 ST, we see them loading what are presumably photon torpedoes in a launcher with their hands. I always thought those seemed small, compared with the "prime universe" ones.

WarpFactorZ, please don't hotlink images from TrekMovie; it's poor form, it's against TrekBBS policy, and (perhaps more importantly) it pisses Anthony off and makes him send us emails.

I'll upload the pic here as an attachment. You'll want to upload a copy of your own to a website or image-hosting account registered to you, and then link to that if you wish to post it as an embedded image.

Also: please identify your picture's source:

They looked like phaser power cells seen on the Defiant in DS9 to me. As torpedoes, the positioning of them would have made so sense, feeding the single forward torpedo launcher we saw.

Exactly. I tossed the idea of it being a torpedo out of hand because of the scenes from ST09, unless this is some kind of uber torpedo, I'm more inclined to think some kind of probe.

Quantum torpedo? Marcus making some throw away line about it being a project between her and a 'friend of theirs' (Spock Prime).

Maybe it's like that "ship" K'Ehleyr used in The Emissary? A super-stripped down transprt tube for getting where you need to go?

Might be seeing as Carol Marcus is supposed to be some kind of weapons specialist this time around.

You know, there's no reason to think the original Carol didn't start out the same way.

I mean think of "Genesis" as an allegory. She invents some terrible weapon that unleashes total destruction of life. She regrets what she's done, and then devotes the rest of her career to using that technology to create life.

I had the same thought. Perhaps Enterprise will be testing some form of new torpedo and this is the reason why Marcus is onboard.

And the reason why Harrison might let himself be captured?

Nah, he's just tryiing to fit in with all the cool bad guys. Like the Joker in The Dark Knight, Loki in The Avengers, Silva in Skyfall. Having a complex masterplan which requires allowing the good guys to capture you is what all the cool villains are doing these days.

The best way to destroy the Federation is to make the Klingons think they are being attacked.
If it is a biological weapon or terraformer device, Harrison could steal it and throw it in Qo'noS or Praxis using April´s ship.
