New novels taking place during the series?

I want to see Enterprise novels take place during the series and I like standalone novels too. I don't think every story has to be a multibook miniseries. It would be nice to see some more Tos or ds9 stories to fill in the missing blanks as for TNG I miss seeing Data in the books and it would be nice to have a book with data and Tasha Yar returning and worf.Have a story anthology for the different series would be nice to have.

Voyager novels set in the original timeline (i.e. the one where Admiral Janeway didn't go back in time) would be interesting. Not quite post-series, not quite during it.

I think you need a balance between continuity-intensive "relaunch" series that appeal to regular readers and standalone books set during the original series that will be more accessible to the casual reader who expects to see something more like the actual tv shows. ("Hey, where is Data? Who the hell are all these new characters? I thought this was a STAR TREK novel . . . .")

There's something to to be said for giving readers what they expect from a series. When I read a Sherlock Homes pastiche, I don't expect any radical new changes in the set-up. I expect Holmes and Watson to be setting up shop in Baker Street, dealing with Inspector Lestrade, etc.

Ditto for the various crews of the Enterprise, Voyager, and DS9.

I've thought of this, too. That could be a GREAT playground for stories.

^Heck, if I were going to do that, I'd rather do the real original timeline, the one glimpsed in "Before and After."

That would be a very interesting trilogy. Tell the whole story about their original journey.

We know that Janeway's favourite cup gets damaged in a battle with the Fen Domar. Presumably, the amount of coffee that Janeway can drink in one sitting would thereafter be diminished. With each passing day, her internal caffeine level would fall subtly ever further below optimum. The long-term consequences could be dire...

Re watching DS9 fir the hundreth time:cool: I'm watching Past Prologue I wouldn't mind a novel that took place during season 1-2 dealing with the ConMa terrorist group.

I swore I already posted here, but apparently not. I would mind the occasional story set during the series (all of them), but like others have said, I would want it to be a story that fills in the gaps, either through things we heard about but never saw on screen, or by tying up dangling threads, like Mirasta Yale's fate. But I wouldn't want them to totally take over the literature line, I'd like it as more of a rotation between the two types of stories.

Like Greg Cox said I think it would be great to have books being standalone stories from the differeent tv series being published again besides post Destiny also post Typhon pact TNG era books with the new characters.I like other stories that take place during the series. I'd like to see them have a chance to be published. It's nice to have a variety of other books that takes in the different tv series and see their favorite characters return would be wonderful to see.Take a break from so many post TNG era books coming out and almost being the only StarTrek books being published right now.I'm not bashing post Tng era stories but but I want to see more variety in Startrek books from the different tv series is what alot of my friends want to read too..There needs to be a balance in the type of books other fans want to read about their favorite characters from the different tv series too besides new charcters in the Post TNG era in the books.I think characters like Data and Odo from the tv series should be included in the stories too.
