New NF book in May '08?

Amazon.co.uk is now listing "New Frontier Untitled: No. 17" for a May 6th 2008 release. It's not on Amazon.com, and Memory Beta only lists the next New Frontier book as being "To be Scheduled" sometime in the coming year.

Does anyone know if this is for real? It seems too good to be true that the next installment of my favourite Trek Lit series could come out within six months.

Since hardcovers don't fit into the "one book per month" schedule, it could be possible, regardless of if another book is coming out that month or not.

Seems to me we would have hard something about it if it were coming out that soon, if only to build up a head of marketing interest, particularly if it's a hardcover. Even if the project itself is real, it's possible that Amazon got some of the details wrong (yes, I know--gasp, shock!). Now, if it said May '09, then I'd be far more inclined to consider this a possibility.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Amazon is the last place I would trust on this count. I'll wait until Peter David says something on his site before I get excited.

That is quite true. Amazon takes things from pretty much anywhere to put on their website.

Maybe no solid book announcement yet, but IDW, via the latest Star Trek Magazine just announced a New Frontier comics miniseries for next year. Cover:

Sweet news!

However the above cover doesn't look at all like Calhoun. Hopefully they'll get Michael Collins

he does look somewhat like Calhoun or you wouldn't have realised it was Calhoun.

but i agree, the artist didn't really capture my handsome self at its best...

scar doesn't stand out enough for one...

Are the cover artists usually the same as the interior artists for IDW? If not, then maybe the inside pages will be more "on-model" than the cover.

Oh come on - it's a dark-haired human-looking man standing next to Shelby. Even if it looked nothing like Calhoun (and it really isn't a very good depiction), pretty well anybody would have been able to get who it was supposed to be from context alone. That's pretty much the only way I was ever able to recognize Kirk in most of the Tom Sutton-drawn issues of DC's Trek comic...

Nope, most issues have four covers and typically only one of those (if that) is by the issue artist. The covers are normally a slightly different style to the interior work as well though.

Sweet. Although, I pretty feel the same as you guys about the Mac though. Hopefully one of the other covers will have a better version. Did they say wether or not PAD was writting it?
Hmm, perhaps this means the idea of a Titan comic isn't so far fetched after all. And Vanguard  and SCE

Well, as I said in the other thread (I thought I said it here, too, but I guess not), without the context, I would have no idea that was suppose to be Calhoun.

Oh, of course you would. Who else would be next to Shelby on the cover of a NF book?

Other than him having brown hair and a scar, it looks nothing like it.
