New Muppet Show pilot in development

The Trailer looks promising, I really liked the original Muppet Show vaudeville/variety format but I can see how they would want to do something more than just produce more shows in the old style.

Given the new information, that actually sounds quite interesting and I can see that it would fit right in. Kind of a modern twist on the Muppets of old.

This way they can get more celebs on the show as well, either as characters or as themselves...
And get some former Muppet Show/Muppets Tonight guests back as well, maybe mention some kind of noodle-accident from when they where on the show...

"Where will the children go to the bathroom? In the woods?"

"That is an offensive stereotype!" :rommie:

It does kind of feel like the Muppets with a contemporary vibe. I'll give it a try.

I'm thrilled to see the Muppets get another chance at a TV Show. And a new take on the franchise is certainly worth checking out. It may not work (see: Muppets Most Wanted), and it may not become popular enough to be sustainable (see: Muppets Tonight), but I've always found something to enjoy about new Muppets content. And I'm looking forward to this approach, too. Personally, I think it can work. Hopefully it will, and it will be popular enough to be around for more than just a season or two.

^I thought Muppets Most Wanted worked quite well.
The film was very dark and almost pessimistic for far too many stretches, and the Muppets themselves spent most of it in empty, hollow performances. I'm all for tinkering with the formula to try a new approach, and I quite liked how the film ended ... but this one ... well ... there's a reason why the film underperformed, and it's because the tinkering didn't work.

So yeah, the film hardly "worked quite well" for the franchise.

I was a child when the original show was on and loved it to death. I have to say I think this new show looks awesome for a come back show. It looks to be a great way to bring these characters into the modern age of tv and yet still feel like the Muppets. I'm on board.

The big revelation here is that Kermit's got himself a case of Swine Flu.

^ Which does help explain why he didn't flat-out reject Miss Piggy decades ago; I for one have never felt (no pun intended) any chemistry between them. :p
