Can't remember if I posted these before or if others did, but I didn't see anything right off the bat:

Evil Dead movie Remake coming!
http://www.moviesonline.ca/movienews_1828.html

"According to Variety, director Sam Raimi and original producing partners Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell are reteaming to produce a remake of the cult hit "The Evil Dead" through Ghost House Pictures and Senator International.

The remake will not be directed by Sam Raimi, so Ghost House is looking for a helmer to reinvent the franchisebefore a script is written. It also has not been said if Bruce Campbell will reprise his role as Ash, or if a new actor will be casted."

Mad Max 4: Fury Road Confirmed, Budget of $100 Million!
http://www.firstshowing.net/2009/10/24/mad-max-4-fury-road-confirmed-budget-of-100-million/

"This is the weekend that Mad Max is making its return. Yesterday morning a rumor hit saying that Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy were director George Miller's top choices to star in Mad Max 4. Later in the day, THR published a story confirming that Mad Max 4, now officially titled Fury Road, was actually already ready to go into production in Sydney and in New South Wales next year. They did not confirm any of the actors, but did mention that the budget would be close to $100 million, despite having no studio funding or backing for the project. That is some impressive indie financing. Obviously the locals rule in Australia."

Thoughts on either? At least Mad Max 4 sounds like it's going to be a continuation, rather then a remake.

Evil Dead without Sam Raimi and (probably) without Bruce Campbell? I'm out.

Mad Max 4 might be interesting, although I don't know why they're making a sequel if they're going to recast Max. Even if they're calling it a 'continuation' at this point, I have strong doubts that it will have little do with the previous three films, besides the name.

Then again, Mad Max was not a series with a great dependency or need of continuity.

Seems to me that Sam and Bruce will be at least starting this new movie off so that gives me reason to at least look. I doubt Bruce will be back and insteasd they are just going to reboot as everyone else is now.

That's what I'm thinking too, but so long as they're involved in the project, I suspect it'll stick around the same feel as the originals (Evil Dead II had to be the best) But I imagine with a bigger budget and better special effects, it could be pretty good.

I'm suspecting it'll be one of those "Pass the Torch" situations where Gibson will probably play a very small role in the begining and the new actor will be like his son from later on after Thunderdome or something...... or could just be someone he met along the way...... but I doubt the new actor will play Mad Max himself...... then again, who knows?

If it's someone playing Mad Max himself from the previous movies, they better pick someone good.

I don't the world needs another Evil Dead movie, even a re-make. I know that last one is probably Bruce Campbell's most beloved movie, but it's completely ridiculous and not nearly as clever and original as the second one. On the other hand, I thought the last Mad Max movie sucked and think it would be great if a new one came along to wrap the series up more strongly.
