New Merlin on BBC

^
Yes I can see her "joining forces with Mordred to do great evil", although the Dragon's words may mean little now.

Morgana would work much better as a recurring villain anyways, there are plenty of episodes in which she bearly appears.

anyways I agree, the dragon CGI does seem to have improved, it could be it was improve for the finale, we got to see a few new angles to the dragon tonight which was nice.

I do wonder what will happen to the Dragon in S3, is it really going to end with the dragon being chained up again? and if so why would it help Merlin? that said it can be a bit of crutch for the show at times, if Merlin or Gauis dont know what to do, Merlin just asks the Dragon, best let Merlin grow and figure things out for himself.

^
That's a good question. Why did the Dragon help Merlin all along to "save" Camelot, when after being released, it appears to be doing its best to destroy it?

My guess... It's his destiny. That and he wants Uther dead more than anything else...

yes if the Dragon wants Uther dead & Arthur to be King, then judging by the preview he is doing alot to hinder that, there are better ways for him to kill Uther than an all out assault on Cameot.

Perhaps in the Dragon's twisted sense of destiny, events had to unfold in this way for it to clear the path for Arthur to become king in someway. Maybe the Dragonlord has something to do with it. Can't wait for the finale and for the next series already!

Was there something different about Morgana in this week's episode? I don't know what it was but something looks subtly different.
And is it me, or is the Dragon looking more expressive, and a little bit more like John Hurt nowadays?

I'm really glad you said that, she definitely looked different tonight, way hotter than usual...It might have been something as simple as a change in eye makeup!

Anyway fantastic episode, I really didn't expect Merlin to do that! I am surprised that Morguese doesn't realise he's magical, I'm guessing they can't smell there own. Great interplay between Merlin and Arthur as usual, especially loved Merlin suggesting they dress Uther as a woman

The dragon definitely looks better. Is it just me or have there been fewer cg beasties this year? Maybe they've funelled most of the budget into the dragon??

Can't beleive there's only one episode left!

Brilliant episode this week, I was very impressed - OK, I'll grant the knights were more than a little derivative, but an imposing enemy nonetheless, and always nice to see Emilia Fox, although I was less impressed with her dress sense this time round
The Morgana angle was a great bit of storytelling, I'm glad they followed through on it, and can't wait till next week!

yes the Knights Arthur took with him, did seem to disappear as soon as the fight get started, and he did not seem overly bothered about the fact none of them came out alive

I finally got around to watching the Real Merlin and Arthur special, with Bradley James and Colin Morgan driving around Wales, talking to Arthurian experts, visiting Arthurian sites, looking for Arthurian relics.

I was amused to note that I own one of the books Colin was reading at the beginning of the special, Ronan Coghlan's The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Arthurian Legends.

Overall, it was an entertaining half-hour. There wasn't anything revelatory; anyone with a decent background in the historical and mythical Arthur probably knows most everything that gets talked about -- Gildas, Geoffrey of Monmouth, Sir Thomas Malory, Caerleon, Camlann.

Really, it's more of an excuse to show the two guys on a road trip. In that regard, it's like an episode of Road Rules: Wales. Only without the RVs and really hot women. Some of the scenery is fantastic, and they clearly had a good time.

I can't imagine why it took five hours to drive 150 miles north from Cardiff, though. Do roads just plain suck in Britain? That's a two, two and a half hour trip, max, on this side of the pond.

It was fun. Nothing taxing. Nothing revolutionary. Just two guys, a map, and a car.

They plain suck in Wales, north of Cardiff - you're not talking motorways, you're talking winding country roads up and down valleys for most of the route, probably some hair-raising cliffs without barriers, and sheep wandering into the road in front of you  Google maps estimates 4 and a half hours Cardiff-Bangor (ie the length of Wales through the middle) and I suspect that's fairly conservative. By contrast, Cardiff to London, about the same distance, 2 hours 40 mins.

Mid Wales is not built for these new automajiggy things :D

Yeah, I thought the same thing. It could have just been that they had black eyeliner on to go with Mogause or they did her hair slightly different, but she did look hotter.

could it be the lesbian subtext between Mogause & Morgana you were all noticing? that and the having a plot for once.

No, she definitely had a different look... and a lesbian subtext? Morgana and Morgause are sisters, aren't they?
Half-sisters at the very least, per "Sins of the Father." The series has been keeping us in the dark about the identity of Morgana's mother, but they're both Gorlois' daughters. Wikipedia states that "which parent they share is unknown," but dialogue in "Sins" between Uther and Gaius regarding the sleeping bracelet indicates that their shared parent is Gorlois.
