New Macbook Pro launch - Thursday, 24th Feb

I have a 2010 MBP so I'm not looking to upgrade right now. Actually, now that I think about it, there is nothing from Apple that I'm looking to get this year, I have an iPad and iP4 and aren't looking to upgrade either of those. Man, those guys got a lot of dough from me last year :S

The only Mac product I own is a four year old Macbook Pro that is really struggling of late. I'll be upgrading in the coming weeks.

There is nothing else I'm interested in. I prefer my Blackberry over an iPhone and just think the iPad is pointless.

My MacBook is only 2 years old, but it's still running like the day I first opened it, so I don't see myself needing to upgrade for a good long while. Honestly, the next thing I might need to buy from Apple is a new iPod Touch. Mine is just about maxed out!

I'm waiting to buy my wife a 13" MacBook Pro, until the new ones are released. She currently has a 13" MacBook but she has had it for over 4 years. I thought she would want a MacBook Air but she felt that it's to close to her iPad. Looking forward to see what the new MacBook Pros will have, especially if it has the Light Peak.

I would agree on the iPad if I didn't travel a lot, its an absolute God send at airports and on planes.
I have an iPad and it truly IS magical. The 3G version is something right out of futuristic dreams. All my media, music, pictures and the web accessible right in my hands. What's not to like? :)

I use my iPad a lot, especially for work. I travel a lot, usually have to give PowerPoint presentations. Its so easy to take my iPad instead of my 15" MBP.

I prefer my computers with a proper keyboard. :)

Plus I don't travel much, don't have large music or photo collections, and my Mac is used for editing more than web surfing.

There's a Bluetooth keyboard you can buy for the iPad, which is great if you actually have a place to set the thing up in a "traditional computer" type arrangement.

However, the fact that having a bluetooth keyboard linked automatically suppresses the iPad's virtual keyboard is a problem, because most of the time when you reach for the iPad it's because you just want to look something up quickly and it's annoying to have to hold the thing in one hand and reach over to the keyboard with the other.

I don't really see the point in posting every Mac rumour here. There are sites already for that sort of thing. Such as the one you are linking everything to. :p

I have a thought about Light Peak. What if Apple makes future iPhones, iPads, and iPods all Light Peak connective. Say with iPhone 6, you must use Light Peak to sync your iPhone.

There's a 'mystery' port on the rear of the iPad 2, which some think is a Light Peak port.

Or just a plain old USB port. :)

Apparent specs:

- no more white MacBook (Apple goes back to two lines of 13" inchers)
- 16 GB SSD mSATA drives on all models to store the system
- Core i3 and third USB port on the 13" model
- Matte screen option on the higher-end 13"
- Option to replace the SuperDrive with a SSD on the 15 and 17" models
- HD screens on all models : 1440x900 on the 13", 1680x1050 on the 15"
- 200 to 300 grams lighter : 1.8 kg for the 13", 2.3 kg for the 15", 2.65 kg for the 17"
- Better battery life : 12 hours on the 13", 10 hours on the 15"
- 8 GB of RAM on the 17"

Also, there is a possibility that they may be including Light Peak after all...

Specs were leaked out on the lowend 13" MBP, Apple is rebranding Light Peak as Thunderbolt for some reason:
