New Land of the Lost

LOL I mentioned this topic in the marathon thread earlier..still a serious reboot could work. A land (dimension) that traps humans and aliens from different times has a vast idea potential. We can still have the small family and tell it from there POV. Lose chaka and the planet of the apes people, Sleestaks would work if more re-imagined. It can keep a small amont of comedy, but lets keep it serious and as realistic as possible, following our group to see how they survive the land's danger and many surprises.

Actually I would keep the ape people, but upgrade the FX. Definitely keep the Sleestaks and the mysterious lost city. Perhaps add more races, aliens or natives to the mix.

Yeah but it needs it need to be upgraded from a kids only show to at least a family show (if not higher), much more realistic and no campyness. As for effects, it is give that in this day and age the fx would be 1000x better than the original production.

Get Ron Moore involved and call it, Land of the lost BATTLESTAR! (or Lost GALACTICA take yer pick)

Explore the backstory of the original series, slowly revealing the the land is a pocket universe that has fallen into disrepair because of some sort of disaster that happened to Enik's people. Enik's storyline could move from trying to get back home to trying to get home to prevent that disaster. Maybe use the Zarn as the last of his kind and reveal that his people were the cause of the disaster that befell Enik's people.

Explore the idea that Holly's future self has somehow become involved with the land as some sort of traveller from the future where she eventually was taken when she left the land itself. Explore, maybe, the idea that humans will one day take over the administration of the land.

That all sounds pretty freakin' awesome. I think the 'pocket universe in disrepair' pretty much describes the setting perfectly, as so much in the series seemed to bear that out.

For a kid's show, many of the writers are accomplished sci-fi authors and many of the stories were grounded in good sci-fi despite the campiness and the 'for kids' aspect of it all. I'd like to see an 'adult' reboot where the slee-stak are serious bad news, and the dinosaurs are like the jurassic park series- to be avoided at all costs if you want to live.

And yes, do away with the ape-men unless they present as adversaries as well, and we get to see them getting bit in half by grumpy and eaten as a T-rex snack attack.

Man, I really wanted a movie version along the lines of what FleetLord and Peacemaker seem to have in mind. I look at the the billboards for this Will Ferrel comedy and I just think "Ugh. What a missed opportunity." I wanted a fun, smart action adventure.

The movie looks like complete shite.

Sooner or later movie makers will learn that Will Ferrel is just not that funny when he's unhinged and unreigned.

I've only recently started watching Lost and, up to the third season at least, it seems as if it's pretty much a modern take on the concept. The pylons are the DHARMA stations, there's ruins of at least one statue of what appears to be an Egyptian goddess, and out-of-place animals (such as polar bears) and denizens are roaming around. Even the Others/Hostiles are filling the role of the Sleestak.

Why did they cast Will Ferrell in the first place, anyways?! That makes this movie looks so bloody stupid. Saw the clip where T-Rex chasing him, to me, that's insanely stupid. He's just plainly unfunny.

Yeah. The movie just looks like a string of shitty Will Ferrell bits strung together in a "Land of the Lost"-ian setting. Audiences will, and *sigh* laughed at his antics of trying to evade the T-Rex by running in a zig-zag pattern. It is just SOOOOO funny.

People will eventually learn that Ferrell's "comedy" comes from a)acting like an idiot b)screaming like an idiot and c)exhibitionism.

How anyone can think this movie is worthy of "Land of the Lost" is beyond any human understanding. It's more "Will Ferrell idiot comedy set in an a place/time with prehistoric-ian cretaures and we managed to get the money to buy the "Land of the Lost" name."

I'm ashamed to love the movie "Stranger than Fiction" so much. But I think it shows what Ferrell is capable of when kept in check.

This movie?

He's allowed to run wild and be an idiot.

He's like a 2 year-old in the body of an aging, pudgy, shaved ape.

God.

Actually, in the movie, he acted like child. Funny thing is, when the first trailer starting to showing, our beloved tv anchor Matt Lauer wouldn't shake his hand, it makes me laughing so damn harder! :guffaw:Now, that's classic, don't you agree?

Remember the name of his character in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back? ;)

Uh..unfortunately I do.

He's pathetic when it comes to new land of the lost movie. Fucking hell, he acts like child! They shouldn't cast him at all, period.

Is this movie at least going to have Enik and his plotlline in it?
Enik is an 'Altusian', a Sleestak from another time who finds himself in what he at first thinks is the past, because the Sleestak of this show are barbarians. However he finds out that he's in the future, and the Sleestak are actually degenerate descendants of his own people.
