Rick Sternbach has posted some new pics of some of the various kitbash ships on his Facebook page. Someone over on reddit compiled them all into this album: http://imgur.com/a/Xkkix

It's cool seeing some new details on the Chekov. In fact, it looks like it and the Melbourne share the same aft pod!

That is a very odd pod underneath the USS Chekov. I love weird stuff like that (and the DS9 kitbashes), Trek ships tend to be far too homogenized.

The reason is that they just used kit parts form a different scale model. :P

In-universe, people have suggested that it was a variant of the Nebula class that could separate, though no easy plane of separation could ever be figured out. Others suggest that ship was a variant built for speed, a separate-able starship module, a freighter, or a one-off testbed for warp technologies that got pulled into service when Utopia Planitia emptied her yards of everything that could make warp. Nothing official was ever made known.

Oh, I know a lot of those BOBW kits were just thrown together, and those nacelles were probably from a smaller scale kit.

I've always loved the Nebula class, with the potentially infinite number of pod options.

Thanks for sharing! I never thought the day would come that we'd be able to see these in such detail! :techman:

Very cool. I know the BOBW kitbashes have been examined to pieces, especially over at Ex Astris Scientia, but these are probably the highest clarity, most detailed photos of those ships we've ever seen.
