New hope for Quisp.

voggmo

Starting in early March 2008, many Dollar General Stores (especially in, but not limited to, OH, PA, WV, and much of the Northeast US) will begin selling Quisp (as well as other classics such as King Vitamin, Crunchy Corn Bran, and Honey Graham Oh's).

Quisp was my very favorite cereal as a little boy in the 60s and 70s. I remember well the "election" between Quisp and Quake where the winner's cereal would surivive and the loser's be eliminated, and I of course voted Quisp.

One day a few years ago I was waxing nostalgic for the stuff and talking to my wife about it as she was about to leave to go grocery shopping. As she walked out the door I reminded her "Don't forget to go back to 1970 and pick me up a box of Quisp.

Damned if that woman didn't return home with a box of Quisp. She said she nearly fainted when she saw it on the shelf, and I was absolutely floored when she walked in the door, all lit up and grinning, and pulled that box out of her bag.

Since then we find it ever so occasionally at the market and I have even ordered boxes direct from Quaker over the internet from time to time when I get an intense craving. A bowl of Quisp can transport me straight back to my youth. Good stuff!

There's a store called Flashbacks in Chicago. I got my sister a Q-bert sweater for her B-day from there. They had Brady Bunch lunchbox's & the bug making toy. A load of fun & trip through 70's nostalgia.

"10 A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.

11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.

12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life. "

I was at a 99c Only store a few weeks ago and there on the shelf-Count Chocula. I remember sitting in front of the TV at 5:30 am watching Hong Kong Fooey and eating that stuff. Memories....

Amen, amen and amen! :techman: You ought to meet her. She is "like the merchant's ships, bringing her food from afar." :D

MT Baldy? I used to hike & party up there. Tommy Lee almost killed Armored Saints drummer up there one night in a car crash.

I was more a fan of the old version of Frankenberry...with the pellet-like marshmallows and a very different texture in the "kibble" than the version they put out every year around Hallowe'en. Liked the old Boo-berry as well. :(
