New Family Guy spin off announced - "The Cleveland Show"

Yeah...

So. Chubby annoying father, normal mother, teenage daughter, obese son, and a baby.

...

It's EXACTLY the same as the Griffens. The next generation of tired, rip-off characters. Where's the talking pet?

I really don't understand why this spin-off exists (aside from Fox's greed and Seth McFarlaine's greed, too, I suppose). While I still love "Family Guy", it isn't quite as funny as it was during its peak. "American Dad" is merely okay - watchable, but not all that impressive. A spin-off centering around Cleveland is just a waste of time. McFarlaine is clearly spread too thin as it is, and should have just kept his focus on the one hit show he had.

Its pretty obvious they are looking for a cartoon for the black audience, which there haven't been that many of. Similar to how King of the Hill targets rednecks.

Ah, I miss The PJs :D

Cleveland is the worst possible character to make a spin-off out of, but I'll watch anyway. Hell, I even vaguely enjoy AmDad. Maybe the talking bears will be funny.

And how Family Guy targets closeted homosexual frat boys who like to pop in a DVD while cornholing some pledges in the basement at the annual date rape roofie mixer.

They're the neighbours instead.

Maybe this show will be part of the YouTube channel that Macfarlane is apparently wanting to exclusively throw all future material onto.

Huh?:wtf: I love King of the Hill, and I do not think redneck is the particular word people would use to describe me. King of the Hill is a funny ass show, as is Family Guy, but for different reasons.

I'm not calling anyone in particular a redneck, but it is clearly the target demographic of that show. They all have a target demographic.

I actually see King of the Hill as a scathing parody of redneck America. That's why I like it so much.

This dose seem like a weak premises for a show..use one of Family Guy's weakest characters to create a show for just because He's a Black character?..I mean if the whole point is to create a show to appeal to Black viewers why not make a more original one instead of just another F.G. ripoff?

And I just want to add my support to King of the Hill which is more than just a "Redneck" show.:techman:

I would be seriously surprised if this show was created because he's a black character or to bring in black viewers. In fact, the way this family will be seen through the prism of MacFarlane's brand of decidedly non-pc humor, I'm fairly certain that's not what he had in mind. My bet is, as boring as the character may be, MacFarlane wanted to stick with what he knows to create yet another wacky family existing in a yet another surreal world. Cleveland's the most adaptable known character to spin off without too much tinkering. And assuming he's leaving the main show, not missed that much.
