New Enterprise Sports Blue Flames From Nacelles In Video Game

Firstly, I'm putting this in Trek Art because it's a game and an interpretation of the new Star Trek. It could go in Trek Tech, or where-ever, but here it is.

I was looking at the screen shots of the new Star Trek DAC video game due to be released next month, and noted in two seperate images, that the Enterprise has blue flames trailing the warp nacelles. It didn't look like a light streak, but a distinct blue flame...

Personally, that is a huge no-no and I hope it's not in the movie. As far as artistic value goes, I see no point to it at all.

Anyway, here it is...

Other then that, it shows some cool ships in battle!

reminds me of the time as a kid, a neighbor kid thought my Enterprise D flew backwards because the bussard collectors were red. logically the ends of rockets are red

Reminds me a little of the old Gold Key Star Trek comics from the late 60's. The artists often drew flames coming from the warp nacelles, even from the engineering section.

I very much doubt we will see any of that in the movie. It's very likely just a way to visually indicate to the player that the ship's thrusters are activated and that it's moving forward. ;)

Star Trek: Encounters for the PS2 had all the ships doing this, the faster they moved the more the blue "streams" appeared behind them, not quite flames so it sounds like they did something similar, wouldn't surprise me if they partially used the Encounters/Conquest engine for it.

Hmmm. This appears to be a bit of a return to Armada RTS-style gaming. As for the blue flames, it could also be artistically-licensed "motion lines" as ships fly through space, particularly when at warp. Don't think it's that big of a deal, but the game does look good, though.

I'm hoping its just artistic license for the game. The Late Master Jefferies would not approve either way... :(
