New edition of The World of Star Trek

I posted this in Lit, but if you're like me, you associate this book as a companion to The Making of Star Trek and it played a part in the formation of fandom. So I was surprised to see a release date listed for Sept 6th 2016 for a new edition with a new intro. Possibly a 50th anniversary tie-in.

It's also a book that had an influence on STNG.

No doubt. I'm not much of a fan of Gerrold these days, as he seems a bitter, angry person (in general I mean) in my interactions with him. But I have to give credit where it's due.

He's not the first.

In the early 1970s, Gerrold was one of the primary voices telling fans to, in effect, worship GR. Now both men have fallen in perceived stature. But they aren't bad guys, just tremendously imperfect, like so many others.
