New DS9 Documentary

Only $11,000 to go for the final stretch goal.
Now showing $496,501 raised as of just before 7pm EST (US). Might very well hit the goal overnight!

Edit: 7:55 PM, $497,571

Edit: 8:45 PM, $499,483 [insert Ron Paul itshappening gif here]

I bet adding Terry Farrell to the Vic Fontaine night out pledge helped (costing $1500). I believe that went from one to four recently.

I know I'm late to the party, but $504,869!!!!!

WUUUUTTT!!!!?!?!?!

From the latest update (emphasis in bold mine):

"As you probably know, this final stretch gives us the financial ability to follow up with our intent to scan and remaster selected shots from the series for presentation for the first time in HD. While we want to reiterate that nothing’s guaranteed until we can get into details further with various departments, we’ve been empowered by our positive talks with CBS Television Studios, along with guidance from familiar faces Mike & Denise Okuda and VFX master Doug Drexler, among others.

...Any additional funds will continue to be put towards additional interviews, custom graphics, and most importantly, the costly process of licensing (and re-scanning for HD!) archival clips for use in the film. It’s as simple as that: the more we can raise, the more we can include."

There is a real Trek-like positivity going on in this thread. We all got to be a part of it, and helped make it happen! Not only was the top tier smashed, it's still going at almost $510,000!
This feeling, and this thread is a welcome break from the routine criticism thrown at Berman-era (and overall Prime) Trek by the same old jaded personalities. It must have done something right if it can generate half a million dollars in rewarded donations in just over three weeks. Trek on I say! I'm so excited!

Hopefully they'll also be able to bring Dennis McCarthy in for the music.

I commented on the indiegogo page that I think I'd be fine if the documentary was scored with someone improvising on a kazoo, if it meant diverting more money for more HD clips.

It would be better to skip the orchestra and have McCarthy play the piano.

I'm a weak and feeble human being. I just donated.

There are so many elements to this, the project is layered- seeing the cast reunite, an proper score, DS9 IN HD! The writers room EPISODE 1 of SEASON 8! I wonder if they'll do something more with that story? Get the cast to perform an audio adaptation, make it into a comic?

Also I wonder if the Novelverse developments will get a mention, of course now the story has moved Far Beyond the Stars of the finale. DS9 was such a good story but it has been pushed down the line of popularity behind other shows. There are so many things to discuss.

Is there some legal reason why they have to stop raising money after a month?

I highly doubt it .. probably more timing so they know their budget and can make it and move onto whatever their next projects are .. otherwise it would never get finished if the scope keeps changing
