I'm thinking of using the domain name DCLDCom.net (Duotronic Computer Library Database) for my Star Trek website and was wondering what you all thought of it.

I think for the general reader, the number of initials might be a little confusing and difficult to remember.

How about something simpler like DuoCom?

Having built many sites on many different topics, the content of the site is more important than the domain name of the site.

Don't know if you went through with it... but definitely a BAD domain name. Very few abbreviations work... for Star Trek, unless it's for a movie like TWOK or IDIC, Trek fans would have no idea.

There are MANY other TLD's available... like the .US extention = Duotronic.us might work, if available.

you want simple -- but memorable. But as JimArcher said, content is hugely important.

Also note, you can one domain address forward to another, so if you have a small (or big) fanbase, they can follow.

I'm really liking some of the new extensions that are now available. Like .watch, or .works or .coffee. You can get really creative!
