New Defiant Coming this year.

I've seen a lot of mixed feelings about this one, and the notion that PL/R2 don't seem to be interested anymore in building large 1:350 kits is becoming more prevalent, sadly. Many modelers have expressed more of an interest in a 1:350 K'T'inga class, or a 1:350 Reliant, and would be willing to pay the higher cost.

They teased us with a 1:1000 Akira a few ComiCons ago that never appeared but had the fandom positively electric about it. Once again, the executives are clearly not getting it - they're thinking that tiny little kits are what everyone wants. It's like the stupid new ComicCon "exclusive" Dukes of Hazzard orange "burning up in Genesis" repaint from Diamond Select that damn near everyone is laughing about. Just. Not. Getting it...

And when nobody buys them they'll cut the line entirely, blaming the fans and a generally bad market for lack of interest. Remember the beginning of the end for AMT with the Romulan "Scorpion" kit from Nemesis? Who in the world gave two rat turds in a rain-barrel about that silly-ass little thing from a generally fandom-reviled movie? A Valdore or even Scimitar would have made a kit orders of magnitude more interesting than that.

This has all happened before, it will all happen again...

I still hold out hope for Moebius to do the right thing. They did with BSG - maybe with Trek they'll get it right, finally.

I agree. The Nemesis Scorpion was a terrible idea. Kinda like the Star Trek "star fighter" plane, which I guess is another mould they had left over!

Shame they can't do more adventurous kits. You would think with 3D printing, the tooling costs would become lower and we could get some nice NEW starship designs, not the same old ones that have been out for 30+ years.

I also have high hopes for Mobeus, but I haven't seen any news for ages about them.

The Art Asylum Glowing Orange model looks horrific, and I will not be getting that. The Defiant SDCC from last year was borderline acceptable!

I wish I had room for the 1/350 kits. If I was still single I would. I'm just happy it looks like they're making a new 1/1000 kit.
