New Dark Shadows Movie

And how many more times are we going to get Batman/Superman reboots and start-overs?

New times, new audience, new start. You have to tell the story from the beginning.

I'm pretty sick of seeing those stories repeated too.

Plus, at the risk of inciting a riot, I can't help point out that the STAR TREK movies never really achieved blockbuster status until, um, the new movie. Which was a reboot.

(Runs madly as the Trek fundamentalists unleash their phasers . . . .)

No phasers, but you may be ducking people throwing plastic vomit disguised as giant brain cells.

:)

Possibly using Barnabas, though he would have to be recast, which is something I dislike.
Zachary Quinto would be beyond perfect. We can get him back on TV, right? If he'll stick with Heroes, he must loooove TV or something. :rommie:
This isn't a new Dark Shadows TV show in development. It's the Tim Burton feature film with Johnny Depp attached to play Barnabas.

After the movie is a big hit, then we can have a TV series! Dark Shadows is like Star Trek - it belongs on TV, dammit!

Yes it does. I never liked the 90's remake. Ben Cross just did not make it as Barnabas for me. Jonathan Frid had feelings and seemed more human than any other vampire.

I think the storylines and re-establishment of pieces from the original series can be incorporated and built upon if done right. In some ways, I'd almost like to see not an obsessive dark cg movie, but the same basic kind of tacky set relying solely on the talent and smoke and mirrors.

It would be great to see some of the older gents from the original cast appearing as creepy folks, but I don't any of this will happen. I keep thinking Burton's going to go the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory route <shudder> Thsi kind of show doesn't need bizarrity, it needs a strong cast and story and the time to develop. It would be better maybe if these guys only produced and let a television series germ.

I just got another dvd set for valetine's day, so frankly, I'd rather watch the original. If it were on tv somewhere, I suspect more folks would be watching it than going to see a Depp quirkfest.
