New Blish Episode Novelization Book for 50th Anniversary

Well, I don't have it yet, so I don't know what was excluded--beyond a poster on this thread that said the Harry Mudd episodes were not in it. If that's correct, there may be a strategy behind it, such as putting the entire "Mudd's Angels" in Volume 2.

But it doesn't even rise to the level of speculation. Stating "it would make me happy" reduces it to a wish, pretty much. Telling me why logically it's unlikely to occur comes across as kind of mean-spirited.

As long as they're not mistaking the most well-known episodes for the best ones. There's a reason why "Spock's Brain" is a well-known Star Trek episode, and it's not because it's good.

Ditto "Threshold" for the Voyager series. If anyone ever decides to adapt the other series' episodes into prose form (something they should have done all along; I'd have bought them), I wouldn't be unhappy if they skipped this one; it would be a waste of trees.

I don't think it's mean-spirited to caution against getting one's hopes up. It's trying to spare someone future disappointment.

I have the originals still too, might be interested in this if it was all of them, but not a selection.

Whew! A reprint I can convince myself don't need. :) I have all the original paperbacks, plus the three season-by-season omnibuses from the 25th anniversary - plus the coincidental reprint of "Mudd's Angels" (as "Mudd's Enterprise") around the same time - which made that anniversary set complete.

Okay, maybe it's not a "Best of" collection, particularly judging from that season-3 listing. Unless the editor's tastes are rather different from mine. Also, arrgghh, they're using airdate order. I'll stick with my 3-volume 25th-anniversary edition in production order (albeit without the Mudd episodes).

I love how this 1994 edition acts as a coda to those volumes!

In what way? Is there a new intro or something added?

As for art, I was quite fond of the original Mudd's Angels cover art. The women there were a lot sexier than the ones in the actual "Mudd's Women."

Only the cover art, but it is also from Bantam's then-new Spectra imprint, so the spine design sits comfortably alongside the three Spectra 25th anniversary omnibuses. There was no need for me to buy it again, of course, except that my original "Mudd's Angels" was on the shelf with my regular Bantam novels, and this one got to sit between my Spectra TOS omnibuses and my three Pocket Books International "Star Trek Logs" (TAS) omnibuses. (We got all ten of the old "Log" books in three new chunky volumes, whereas the US - Del Rey? - reprints around the same time ignored "Star Trek Log 10".)
