New Batgirl suit/ creative team

Not sure about the age of this version of Barbara. After all, they've reworked everyone's backstories effective 2011. Her Congressional career, librarian and social activist work, her stint as Oracle...all gone.

That history was part of what made the pre-Flashpoint version interesting to me.

As for this newly-added Burnside neighbourhood? Not the first post-Flashpoint retrofit to Gotham's map either. I remember some preview excerpt from a couple of months back referring to a "Barcelona District" as well. Add to that Morrisonian practices of retrofitting the neighbourhood names from the Nolan movies' two versions of the Gotham map in between the ones established on Eliot Brown's 2000 map of the city...which isn't impossible. The combined Gotham Islands as designed by Brown look to be close to twice the real estate of Manhattan, and that one NYC borough has close to a hundred recognized neighbourhoods, both active and historically remembered.

I'd be interested in seeing a revision of the Brown map taking that into account, of course, for semi-professional reasons.

Getting back to the uniform redesign that started this: I have one complaint, already noted elsewhere on the web. The mask/helmet. It needs chin straps. Whether for secret ID protection, or physical protection of the skull, please add chin straps to secure the headgear!

Just a couple of months ago, Zero Year showed a map that was a direct copy of the No Man's Land map from 1999.

I see they're really trying to emphasize the "girl" part of her name. "Like, I'm totally a badass crime fighter, but I still like to buy clothes at vintage shops, I love taking selfies, and look at me hanging out in the powder room with all my girlfriends. Teehee!"

Ugh.

Batman would bitchslap the hell out of this chick if she even considered stealing his brand.

^Well that part at least is consistent with Babs as Batgirl. She was always the sassy, modern young one of the bat family. They've just updated a bit. Like I said though, that'll mean she'll be dated pretty soon, making the whole endeavour somewhat pointless.

^To be fair, this is just a cover image and some concept art. Hardly a sufficient basis to judge the quality and content of the book's writing, let alone Barb's specific characterisation.

I like the costume except for the boots. And I appreciate the concept of leather. It's reminiscent of the classic Yvonne Craig outfit. But I agree with everybody else that the artist made her look way too young.
