New Amazon descriptions: Open Secrests, Troublesome Minds, and LTP

NOGURA!

Now there's gratuitous continuity I can get behind.

With how he's been used (or not used, depending on your POV) in other TOS books set during this period, and taking into account the "bigger picture" of events unfolding at this time, his presence here actually makes some sense.

(That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.)
I'm looking forward to it. I'm sort of amused that a guy who gets off-handedly referenced in one movie has shown up in so much of the fiction, though. And usually quite consistently. (Though given he was already an old, retired guy called back into service for a crisis in 2270 in The Lost Years, one has to wonder how old he is by the time of The Sundered! And if he's tired of being called back into service for crises yet.)

Kevin Ryan put forth the notion that Nogura and a few other admirals were key players in crafting Starfleet strategy in the face of escalating threats (the Klingons in particular). Vanguard just follows that lead and extrapolates accordingly :)

I've read all the Vanguard books but none of the 'Errand of Fury' ones. Are there going to be a large number of references to 'EoF'?

it also means we'll have a station commander who won't get killed or demoted. :D

Cripes! Not wishing to preempt anything, but I certainly hope that we haven't seen the last of Comodore Reyes.I think that some(actually most)of the appeal of Vanguard is the "HBO"style treatment of the main characters, not quite "whiter than white".
agreed. I certainly warmed up to him over the books, and would love to read more about Reyes.

I didn't notice that bit when I read flandry's post, and I do have to agree. This is one series where I'm dissapointed to see anyone go. It's been ages since I read the books, so a couple weeks ago I read all of the bios for VGD's characters, and it said Anna/Lurqal was on a shuttle that was destroyed in RtW, so would any of the authors be willing to confirm that she is dead?

Definitely have Open Secrets and Troublesome Minds on my to buy list. :)

Just wondering why there is only one TNG book being released (LTP) over the next 18 month period, in comparison to all the other series.
Why not?

Yes, in 2007, we got a bunch of books in a short time frame, primarily as part of the celebration of TNG's 20th Anniversary year. Since then, though, the schedule has been about what it is now -- one TNG-labelled book a year, give or take the odd multiseries trilogy here and there.

And, as said above, the 2010 schedule is still very nebulous, though it can all but be guaranteed at least one of the "Typhon Pact" novels will be a TNG book.

Why not? For purely selfish reasons, I must admit. I like to read TNG books and would like to read more than one per year. I shall just have to try harder to be patient.

I don't think Lurqual was really in the ship when it blew up....or is that just me being in denial?
