New 3-inch figure pictures!

http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=12&itemid=14271 And is it just me? or is KIRK'S head ''smaller'' the the rest of his body?

Well they're basing it on that Pine guy so it looks anatomically correct to me! :guffaw:

Those look absolutely terrible. I like Kirk's lipstick.

Let's not get it twisted...that is clearly chapstick..he does get stuck on that ice planet right? :guffaw:

They do look friggin horrible though. what an embarrasment!! I'm glad i have my ORIGINALS!

Both Kirk and Spock heads are too small proportionally to the body size. The lipstick is great!

What is this nonsense? Toy looks weird but Pine looks fantastic as Kirk.

If you notice there's that little laughing head at the end of the sentence.....thats your cue that it's a joke!
:p Knew someone would make that ''joke'' didn't know who would thou. I was originaly going to call this thread, Is it just me? or is KIRK'S head small? but then I backed out at the last second, when I thought of the ''subtle'' secound meaning.

Although I don't collect these sets, I think that the Trek toys released so far have been a disappointment, especially when Paramount has gone to so much trouble to really hype this movie up and done an excellent job with the trailers, posters, and the IDW Countdown. I can remember back to being a kid and seeing all the original star wars playsets and the amount of detail that went into the figures and ships. These days eveything just looks cheap, like an afterthought. Just about every Spock figure that I've seen lately has his face looking like an owl. Guess they don't give a hoot!

Uhura's skirt seems to be split up the side kinda far...

For kids!

Eh, for the tiny size the detailing is ok. If these were 7-inchers I'd be more worried.

Well two things, first, for movie license figures of this scale (3 3/4") they're no worse than the recent Indiana Jones figures. Second, they are clearly prototype figures, meaning that the final sculpts and paint processes are very likely undergoing last minute tweaks and changes to what we'll see on the shelves soon. sometimes prototypes are radically different from the final figures, but with these coming out so soon, I suppose these are a pretty close proximity of what's available.

And for that matter, they look better than the first wave Star Wars figures of the same scale from 1977.

The toy Spock with his hand up in the air reminds me of that commercial with Mego Spock showing us around his crib!

You hit the nail on the head there! I do get sick of TV commercials and TV hosts using those old lines every time they talk about Trek.

can't you just hear the local TV newsreaders trip over themselves to use some Star Trek one liners when the new movie comes out? i can't wait to see Betty/Sally/Rachel from Action News do the vulcan hand sign during the witty banter segment before commercial break.
