Never seen TOS scenes...round 3

Looks really great, guys! Keep it up! 
I posted these over at hobbyTalk when Warped showed us his stuff. May I get into the act again?
The enseen scene in The Cage when Pike was forced into an illusion of being a tank commander in France in 1944, and Vina a pretty young French farm girl:
Pike's mind fights back, and his illusions begin to merge and intrude upon one another:
Taking cover with Vina from a Nazi bombardment:
Back on the Enterprise, Spock reaches out with his mental powers, trying to contact his friend and captain's mind. Briefly, he makes contact:
Vina tries to pull Pike back into the illusion...
But with Spock's help, he brings himself back to reality, Vina sighs in defeat:

A harried Captain tries to take a break.
Outsized and outgunned.
Going to face the unknown.
Closing upon a disabled opponent.
Going in for a forced landing on an unexplored planetoid.
Downtime during the holiday season.
Pike era briefing room.
Planetary phaser barrage.
Federation fleet at Organia...
...and the Klingon fleet awaiting them.

In a sense TOS in 3rd season did a bit of sleight-of-hand on the issue by giving us a female starship commander in the form of the Romulan Comander in "The Enterprise Incident." But I like to think that in a hypothetical 4th season they might have had the nerve to finally lay the issue to rest and given us a genuine Starfleet starship captain.

Nice that you've got them watching Ioan Gruffudd as Hornblower.
Here's a look at a TOS era impulse "exhaust" setup. The image of the ship is a cgi render by Charles Casimiro. I tweaked the image some and superimopsed it into a planetary orbit scene. I then cut the impulse exhausts from a shot of the TMP refit as seen from aft and moving away. I toned down the colour a bit to a more yellowish hue and added a bit of glow, but if you look close you can still see the neat grate effect in the exhaust ports.
