Ah, okay, thanks for clearing that up. I guess it makes sense that the Romulans gave the Klingons Birds of Prey in exchange for D7 cruisers. Afterwards both parties started building ships based off the other's design, hence Klingon BOPs and later Romulan ships like the V'Teridix class and D'Deridix class warbirds, which resemble the Klingon style of design.

I like this design a lot - shows an intermediate step between the Romulan D7s and later TNG warbirds:

Sorry to have to do this, gang, but it's about time we closed this thread and opened a new one. Once they rack up 1,000 replies or so, they start to become a bit cumbersome for the database.
