Titan Comics will be publishing a never before released comic book adaptation of the British TV series The Prisoner by Jack Kirby and Gil Kane. They originally made the adaptation back in the '70s, but it has never been released until now. It will be released as a hardcover, and will feature an adaptation of the pilot episode, artwork by Gil Kane, and an episode script.
Later this year Titan will also be releasing a new sequel series that, according to CBR, will "focus on the successor to Number 6".

The article doesn't mention why the comic was never released.

Speculation: Perhaps because it was rubbish?

Yeah, I noticed that too, but even if it's rubbish a new Jack Kirby comic coming out is still a pretty big deal.

Steve Englehart is not a name to be ignored either.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the work was originally done for Marvel who owned the rights in the 70s, but for some reason chose not to publish it, but likewise does not give us a reason for the decision. Marvel probably decided against pursuing the license. Perhaps there just wasn't any interest in the book?

Maybe we find out Darkseid is #1 (and the Village was run by The Eternals who were testing mankind)? ;)
