Spoilers Netflix's Lost in Space: Revisited

My current re-watching of Netflix's "Lost in Space" reboot was initially inspired by my online quest to find it's second season premier date (all I could find was speculations ranging from mid-April to mid-July). I was happy to say that it is still just as captivating as it's original viewing. Sure there were some things I had forgotten or overlooked, but even the things I remembered held up without an overabundance of nits to pick which makes it fun experience. Some of my reservations moving are still there, such as: now that Doctor Z. Smith (Parker Posey version) has been revealed to be a dangerous psycho, how can they justify keeping here part of the Robinson clan? Any chance they can bring Bill Mumy back to re-inhabit the character?
 
What are they going to do with Posey other than keep her? Kill her? Not this group.

It won't be that straightforward, I'm sure. It looks like they're about to run into an alien buzzsaw, and "Smith's" gift seems to be to climb on top of catastrophes.
 
My guess is that Smith will turn out to have some sort of vital connection with the alien drive that is providing them with a gravity field and which I suspect is either an AI or an alien consciousness running on a machine substrate. It'll probably be essential to keep Smith alive and friendly for the family's survival.

I've been checking around, but I can't find any information. Is there going to be a DVD or Blu-ray release of season 1? The closest thing I've seen is an Emmy consideration DVD on eBay for $150.
 
I feel that it's a series I will revisit a few times, and I like owning physical copies of the things I enjoy.
 
Yeah, they seem wait quite a while before they release Netflix series on physical media. I don't feel like looking right now, but I believe there was well over a year between when Season 1 of Daredevil came out on Netflix and when it was released on DVD and Blu-Ray.
 
It makes sense that Netflix would want a fairly lengthy exclusivity period with their own content before they kick it down to physical media. It encourages subscriptions since while a fair proportion of the customer base could probably stand to wait a few months for it to come out on disc, most (especially if it's a hot new show) probably wouldn't be willing to stick it out for a full year while all their Netflix subscribing friends are going nuts over it.

The flip side of it is that they can use the physical to fish for more subscriptions, if say a non-subscriber buys a season of a show on disc, really likes it and there's an add, or sticker or something on there that says something like "watch the brand new season 2 on Netflix now!"


Anyway as for the show itself, put me down as "liked it, but in no hurry for a rewatch."
