In terms of Canada:

The Bell Media rollout for the new Star Trek series in Canada will mirror the launch in the United States. The first episode will premiere on Canada’s most-watched broadcast network, CTV, on the same night as CBS. All remaining episodes will initially be televised on Bell Media’s cable networks, Space (in English) and Z (in French), and then later exclusively on CraveTV, Bell Media’s streaming video-on-demand service. The Star Trek television library will return to Space (in English) and debut on Cinépop (in French), and will also be found among CraveTV’s leading lineup of premium television series.

For Canadians it basically comes down to the fact that if you're already a cable subscriber then you get the new series at no extra charge.

There is something almost poetic about that. In 1966 TOS premiered in Canada on Sept 6th, two days before premiering in the U.S. on NBC.

Not happy with this. Space is a specialty channel in Canada so you have to pay far more than the $7.99 crave tv costs. Also since episodes will air on Space first, does this mean episode scenes could be cut to accommodate commercials? Bryan Fuller has stated that they don't have to be as strict with the run time for episodes because of a lack of commercials on streaming some episodes could be the standard 42 mins while others could be 46 or 50 mins.

I want to know how long we have to wait after episodes are aired on Space to when they are uploaded up on Crave Tv.
 
Well I've already got Space so it's no biggee for me. But it would be even better if the episodes are also available online after the initial broadcast. Thats how I watch Murdoch Mysteries and Supergirl when I miss the initial broadcasts--I watch them the next day online on CBC or Global (respectively).

I'll give the new series a chance, but if it fails to grab me after a reasonable sample (like what happened with VOY and ENT) then it will be a short honeymoon.

If you really want, you could pay for the channel, tune in each episode without actually watching it, and then torrent the CBS All-Access version once it's up to be on the safe side. I doubt they'll go cutting episodes though, then again, I don't have any experience with Bell Media living in Ireland.
 
Great news. I cancelled my Netflix sub a month ago because they had no Star Trek series in my country. They brought them all on a week later and now this news about the new series availability - I will probably resub.
 
I know what I will be doing whole autumn and early winter until the new series premieres..

I mean 24 hours is pretty much earliest I could watch it in any way. With work and all.
Primetime in U.S. is late night/early morning here. They once aired Walking Dead's some season premiere live on local Fox channel here and it felt wrong to wake up in the early morning, watch Walking Dead and then eat breakfast and go to work :D
 
As a Netflix subscriber in the UK, I'm very happy about this news. However, if I were in the US or Canada, I'm sure I would be extremely annoyed. As a great believer in equality, I feel for Trek fans in those nations on this.

My main cause for celebration is that Sky TV aren't getting it; I refuse to knowingly give a penny of my money to Rupert Murdoch :D (Oh, I'm sure he ends up with some of it in shady ways, but only from sources out of my hands).
