Netflix may pick up Terra Nova

Netflix pulled this with The Event and something else recently. I'll believe it when I see it.
Pulled what? It's possibly been offered to them, and they are possibly considering it. No promises have been made

Exactly. I doubt this deal will go through as I can't see Terra Nova bringing in many new people. It wasn't a show that came across as having a huge fanbase like Arrested Development which Netflix did pick up.

Well, that's a shame. But at least it leaves them free to save FreakyLinks.

Similar to Star Trek in this vein of distribution would be DC and Marvel properties. They are moving into online digital versions of their actual comics. It would be a natural extension of that with live action series or animation.
Well there's an idea. Who says Netflix needs to just imitate any type of TV business, broadcast or cable? Why couldn't they start distributing online comics? Why not do both traditional (still image) comics and some hybrid between still images and animation? Maybe there's a new form of comics to be invented.

This medium already exists. For the past 5 years or so that I've seen, there have been small motion comic spin-offs of movies and video games. The prequel series to Dead Space you can get on XBOX Live is pretty awesome, with a decent cast of voice actors and a well done, creepy hardcopy comic base for the visuals. I wish they had made another one for the sequel, but I guess the comics and XBOX Live game covered that.

.
Not only that, some of these comics are available for viewing on Netflix

^Thanks for the info on that, I'll make sure to check some of that out.

Is everyone sitting down? :D Netflix passed on Terra Nova. Quel suprise.

After they started sniffing around The River too, I figured they were mainly interested in kissing up to Spielberg either in the hopes of making a powerful friend in Hollywood (Netflix's tribulations in streaming rights show that they need to do something in this area) or possibly even exploring co-producing an original series with him, maybe something that doesn't suck for a change.

No doubt The River would be a lot cheaper to produce. I wouldn't want to see Netflix waste their money on that either, but it would be a somewhat less-stupid decision than picking up Terra Nova.

I'd like to see more Netflix programming out there. After all streaming media looks like its replacing cable.
