Netflix developing 'Lost in Space' remake!

Huzzah! I don't know any of the names behind the people who are producing it, but it can't be any worse than the '97 film, right?
Well, Kevin Burns who is listed as one of the producers also produces reality crap like Kendra and Kendra On Top. I don't hold out too much hope for this project.

You're looking at it wrong.

Kendra Wilkinson is a household name.

How the #### is that possible?

That's like honest proof of sorcery, right?

Good! Let's hope they get this remake/reboot right this time. :)

Maybe number four is the charm:
1973 animated episode
1998 film
2003 WB pilot
2016 Netflix (yeah!)

I will definitely watch LIS on Netflix. :techman:

I remember one where Smith stole Thor's Hammer from Thor.

I wonder if they could afford Chris for a couple days?

NOW yer talkin!!!

As long as he has flowery, goofball dialogue and plenty of overacting in his body english and facial expressions...oh, and a real "stereotype" costume to wear...

...oh...oh, yeah...

I'm interested. New space sci fi is always good. Just because it's Lost in Space doesn't mean we can really make any assumptions. It could be as different from its source as nuBSG was.

Anyone remember an episode where they found a factory that made robots, and at the end Will lays down and gets turned into a cyborg with Smith's face? I was so terrified 25 years ago that I still have trouble thinking about it.

;)You mean this one?

Done right, I think it has the chance to be good. I mean, honestly, they don't really have much to lose, but all to gain if they manage to make something worth watching.

^Upping the stakes, perhaps... Not only will they be lost in space but lost in multiverse?
Maybe as an explanation of why the family had to be in suspended animation for the trip to Alpha Centauri, but then managed to zoom all around the galaxy between episodes? :D

They'd have to keep the title, the character names and jettison pretty much everything else.

Note the "cellular" structure on the wall behind him. That was a reused set piece from Fantastic Voyage, one of their model blood-vessel walls, presumably. LiS reused a lot of props and components from that movie, since they were both from 20th Century Fox and had the same FX team. IIRC, the nozzle that was used in the film to draw in replacement air for the Proteus was repurposed as the mining drill on LiS.

I enjoyed the '98 movie and the pilot though unfinished wasn't too bad. But I can see them getting rid of the robot and turning Smith into an agent similar to Garuy Oldman's version of the character. Sadly I think the series will be a bit grown up than the previous versions had been.

I don't have any particular attachment to Lost in Space (I think I've only seen the '98 movie and the WB pilot and didn't care for either), but I'll gladly watch any new space opera-type show if it's good. And if it isn't good I'll just ignore it, so basically I'm good either way. :)

The pilots of Dark Matter and Killjoys left me pretty cold, but with this, new Star Trek, and The Expanse, there are suddenly quite a few interesting new space operas to look forward to! Good times. (assuming any of them turn out well)

Hence why they would have nothing to lose. If it bombs, then everyone will promptly forget about it just like the other recent versions. They're already essentially starting from zero, so chances are any tweaks and changes will likely be seen as a vast improvement on what's been done before.

Netflix has done a pretty good job with most of their original programming. I have faith they can do a pretty good job with this.

I've watched few episodes of the original, and they were OK. I love campy, cheesy stuff but it was just to cheesy even for me. I've been wishing we'd get a modern remake since I saw my first couple episodes, so this news makes me.
Terrific. CBS All Access gets new Trek, and Netflix subscribers get...this. Grrrrr. :scream:
Yeah, but Netflix does have Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Sens8, and Longmire, so I think we're doing OK.
