Need to know questions about Borg books and other Star Trek items

That's a little bit of a shock that Jeff Conaway passed away. I know he'd be somewhat of an old man by now if he was alive, but he looked like one of the younger cast members of the shows. Did he abuse himself with substances or something? Andy Kaufman could be almost as funny as Christopher Lloyd's Ignetalski on the show once in a while. Of the characters, the ratty boss played by Danny DeVito was normal except that he was obnoxious at times. Tony Danza's character could be a little dense at times, which would mean the characters who were close to normal were Marilou Henner's character, Jeff Conaway's character, and Judd Hirsch's character. For the sake of making this as close to Star Trek as possible, maybe they could do a movie with the remaining cast members. I know I got a bit off topic here, but Star Trek itself has a tendency to do that at times in some of their books, and it even made it onto the screen with the two part Enterprise episode that took place in that mirror universe and didn't involve the main characters at all. I hate it when they do that.

Just to be clear: None of the books are canon, but every plot must be approved by the powers that be at CBS. We can't just write whatever we want, regardless of whether the books are canon or not.

That's why we have to submit outlines to CBS before we get the green-light to proceed.

Does the lack of a full list of Borg books mean nobody knows?
Peter David's a good writer; but I wish he would write more books about the regular cast or recurring characters at least instead of focusing so much on that series that characters who have appeared either never or only once, so I don't care much for the New Frontier series. If he included the Borg in a book, then it'd be worth buying. He only wrote one DS9 book by himself, which was a good book and another that he coauthored with a couple other writers. I noticed the first time he coauthored a book with a few writers, there was someone by the last name of Carter. The writer I know of for sure that has that last name is Carmen Carter, but I don't remember if that was the Carter who was the other coauthor or not. I'm sure it's a safe bet that the other writer wasn't Jimmy, Billy, Rosalynd, or Lynda. I know I like to write on an obscure character because I prefer to write about Barclay, but at least he's made several appearances on Next Generation and Voyager.
That scene in the finale of Voyager where Janeway first encountered the Borg was pretty good. It reminded me of a diver who's swimming in the ocean and gets too close for comfort to a shark. How many would agree with that analogy?
Speaking of the Borg, I wish someone would give a species name to species 125. According to what I read in Borg designations, it's the species that the queen originated from; and if that's the species that first started building Borg technology, it'd be nice to develop as much information as possible about them.
What would be really nice is if someone wrote a history novel delving into their past. They did that with the Klingons. It might've been a book written by Michael Jan Friedman, but I don't remember. I know it was about Kahless. They did that with the Vulcans in a book that I'm thinking was called Vulcan's Forge. Now it's time to do something like that for the Borg.

I know this isn't one of the most appropriate jokes to make; but since Star Trek's known to get pretty far-fetched, it looks like they're finally deciding to have outlines submitted to the right higher-ups because when you watch the shows and the movies, you see BS.

You might want to read chapters 2, 8, 14 and 20 of Destiny: Lost Souls. They basically explain how the Borg came into existance.

Vulcan's Forge is followed up by Vulcan's Heart, and later a Nemesis prequel trilogy Vulcan's Soul, just so you know.
Peter David wrote an excellent TNG novel Vendetta that focuses on the Borg.
New Frontier is excellent, I'm re reading one of the older novels currently.Using original and obscure characters gave him freedom to develop relationships and let the characters grow and change, taking them places that the other novel lines couldn't do.

Peter David wrote TNG 12 Doomsday World with Carmen Carter, Michael Jan Freedman and Robert Greenberger. Probably the one being referred to, since that seems to be the only time they coauthored.

Is this four separate books, or are you referring to one book that has four chapters?

Of all the species of the Dominion, they're the only species I find interesting; and I get bored with the others. I know there's the Jem'Hadar and one other, but I don't know what the name of it is, but they bore me.

They're four chapters contained within the same novel which is part of possibly the best trilogy of Trek novels ever written.

I suppose another race that might be interesting to do a history book on would be the Founders. Plus any origin story of the Changlings/Founders is that they evolved that way like all things do, unless you mean the founding of the Dominion, which in that case, is just a simple act of..................

You should probably also read the other Destiny novels, there is some timey wimey stuff so you might want to read the m in Publication orde (unlike me, I actually read the trilogy in chronological chapter-by-chapter order)

That is where fan fiction comes in, as there are no constraints, no limits to creativity, and no reset button.

Yes, I know that some fan fiction is painfully execrable, but I've seen some in several genres that is of publishable quality. There's quite a bit more that, while flawed in some ways and rough around the edges, is still enjoyable and worth reading.

I would think that Memory Beta's entries on the Borg would be quite complete, or at least a good start.
