Need helps with computer display settings problem

Tiberius

Commodore
Commodore
Running Windows 7. I turn on my machine and the display is green. There's a very low quality image, well enough to read and actually use the computer, but it's very poor. It looks like something from the 1980s. I've tried restarting a few times, I've tried switching to an external display and back and tried chainging my resolution, all to no avail.

Any siggestions?

Okay, funnily enough the problem has fixed itself. No idea what happened, I was poking around and the screen just blinked back to normal. I wasn't doing anything at the time.

Anyone have any idea what might have happened? Just the display drivers messing up, or could it be something more?

Sounds to me like your cable was not in all the way, am i right in assuming it was not HDMI, but more VGA, assuming your on a desktop and not a laptop, and if your on a laptop, then ignore everything i just said. :)

Could still indicate a faulty connection even on a laptop.

Yep, my first impulse was "loose vga cable". My second thought is failing video card.

Yeah, I'm on a laptop.

I'm doing a free online course, and they post video lectures. I've noticed that the videos don't work, but I;ve found a workaround. I skip the little slider to a few minutes in, then bring it back to the start and it works.

Is this something consistant with a failing video card?

Define "doesn't work" in the case of the video lectures.

Oh, sorry.

I can hear the sound, but there's no image. Depending on the videos I watch, the little area where the video is supposed to pop up is either black or green.
