Need help with JFIF standard change

hi all

I'm atm transfering a friend's board to my server. Unfortunately, the old server used the ancient JFIF 1.01 standard to encode the attachments whereas my one uses JFIF 1.02.
Is there any way to translate / convert the files from 1.01 to 1.02 standard? I won't hesitate to edit them manually, if that's the only way, but I need someone to tell me exactly what to edit.
I already did an online search but couldn't find anything remotely helpful. I propably used the wrong keywords in the search, this not being my native language.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you trying to transfer the files with FileZilla by any chance, or some other FTP assistant program?

The PHPBB forum has noted problems with doing that, it might not be the file format. Most standards *should* be backward compatible. You need to make sure you're uploading/downloading using BINARY instead of ASCII settings.

I'm indeed using filezilla. I used to have an ancient version that worked splendidly (that's the one I used on Terran II) but for the board I'm atm trying to transfer I had to switch to the newest filezilla version as I only had a config file for the newer version to go on.
I had indeed used ASCII instead of binary. (Binars always cause trouble, it seems ;) Just ask Riker)

Thanks for the tip, {{{{{{{Jim}}}}}}}! *hurries off to read up on the problem*

*returns* That seems to be precisely my prob and a very simple solution! YAY!!!! Jim, you're a genius! I'd never have known which keywords to use to find that thread.
