Need help identifying a horror film

Years ago while still in high school, I rented an old horror movie at the local Blockbuster (long before DVDs) and I remember one scene with particular vividness.

Sadly, I can't remember anything else about it, so I'm hoping someone here can help.

*I think Vincent Price was in the film

*There was a dead woman (perhaps the main character's wife) whose neck was broken.

*The dead woman came down the stairs with her neck tilted to the side.

*A voice (sounding like a chorus of voices) spoke through her, repeating something about "The others...the others..."

*The setting was contemporary to the time the film was made, instead of the usual Corman-Price films.

Maybe I'm remembering things incorrectly, but any help would be appreciated.

Was it in colour, or black and white?

Any recollections at all about the character Price was playing?

If it was in black and white, it might be the original version of House On Haunted Hill. I haven't seen it all the way through, but that scene sounds familiar as well.

yeah, it sounds like House On Haunted Hill, but its been a while since i've seen it.

I was thinking of House on Haunted Hill as well, but that scene doesn't sound familiar.

You should watch it anyway, just because it's a good movie. :D But I'll give this some additional thought.

That's not the House on Haunted Hill. There's no possessed, broken-necked woman in that movie. Just a floating skeleton.

This isn't ringing any bells. Are you sure Price is in it? Maybe you've got a couple of different films smooshed together in your memory?

^^^I think that's exactly what's going on, a melding of different films. I recently rewatched "Tales of Terror," and Price is mesmerized at the point of death in the third vignette. I think that's where I'm getting Price from, given the similarity to the movie I'm thinking of.

But I'm certain it was in black and white. And I definitely remember this dead woman walking down the stairs, her neck broken, and a very creepy, Borg-like chorus speaking through her and repeating "The others...the others...."

This is the part where I mention that, of course, "Tales of Terror" was scripted by Richard Matheson, based on stories by Poe.

Not sure where the broken-necked woman is from, though, although I'm pretty sure it wasn't one of Richard's movies! :)

There's a horrorish film I've been thinking about recently. I saw it as a kid, but I can't remember its name. I used to think it was "Jewel in the Crown" or something, but that's a BBC series. It's about a group of treasure seekers exploring this place and once they get to the end, one of the main heroes becomes possessed with powers or something. I forget why, maybe the treasure was cursed or something. He then tries to kill the rest of the characters in this freakish, memorable scene. I've always thought about this movie. I can't recall it starring any famous people which is why it's so hard to identify. Maybe it was a foreign language film. Anyways, it's probably at least 30 years old.

I think you've confused the broken neck/stairs part, thats from "Death Becomes Her", a more modern film.

It has been years since I saw this movie. The one thing I'm most certain of is the woman, who's dead, being spoken through by spirits, and voices repeating "The others..."

Ah! Here it is. Has anyone scene this?
