i have not found this episode its as if it dont exist but i remember watching it :(
ok this is what i remember

data for reason can see aliens aboard the enterprise everywhere that are experimenting on the passengers using apparatuses on peoples heads of body and are constantly being monitored by these beings that no-one else can see, i remember data not saying anything untill alone with the captain (picard) where he told him in the lift i think. then they modify leforges visor to see these beings.
they then contact the aliens.

cant remember much else but clearly remember watching it and have just finished watching all 7 seasons of the next generation thinking that it must be on that series
can anyone help me out :)

Actually, I think it was Voyager, not Next Generation. Former Borg, Seven of Nine is able to see the aliens and the equipment they are using on the crew members by having her ocular implant adjusted. The name of the episode is Scientific Method. It is in season 4 of Voyager. Seven was alone with the alien at one point in the turbolift and they conducted a test on her and she had to pretend that she wasn't aware of their presence.

I think you might be conflating "Scientific Method" with "Phantasms" (IIRC), in which Data subconsciously does detect aliens that are causing problems to our heroes that are going undetected.

Yeah, if it isn't TNG's Phantasms, then you're wrongly remembering it with TNG characters. The Only TNG episode close to your description is that one, which is where undetected creatures are feeding on the crew, & only Data detects it, via his subconscious, & they use the holodeck to track his dreams

Cellular Peptide cake! with mint frosting!

Whoops, I had forgotten about Phantasms. The way the original poster described it, it sounded like Scientific Method to me.

yea i watched the one with the creatures recently and that didnt ring any bells, good episode though
