Need a new signature drink

Don't order a girly drink dude, it's just not right. Try an Old Fashioned for when you want to come off classy. It's pretty popular right now because Don Draper drinks them on Mad Men, and they're actually a fantastic drink. And try an A.M.F. just for fun sometime. It's blue, it tastes good, and will get you drunk. Note: When given a mixed drink with straws, it is proper form for a man to take said straws out of the drink and set them on the table or something. Don't sip anything through a straw.

I happen to like drinking my drinks through a straw, if they come with one. It ensures that I am able to consume the maximum amount of the beverage (re: alcohol) before the ice melts and dilutes it.

Cognac and lemon soda.

No, seriously. Use VS cognac, and mix it like a Highball or a Horse's Neck, over ice. It's delicious, especially in hot weather.

It's best, however, if the lemon soda is only semi-sweet. I use a brand called Splendido Lemon Frizzante. Sparkling lemonade or lemon pop is too sugary, IMO.

Gin and grapefruit soda is good as well. According to Wikipedia, it's particularly popular in Finland, for some reason.

I'm not a fan of mimosas and I'm allergic to strawberries, but pomegranate is fantastic!

I know, I know, I know, and in a perfect world maybe concerns like that would carry some weight. But this is the only world we have, and in this world straws make men look like little boys drinking from a juice box.

Fo Summer, the Porch Swing is a nic refreshing bevvie:

1 1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons) gin
1 1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons) Pimm’s No. 1 liqueur
4 ounces (1/2 cup) lemonade
7-Up or another lemon/lime soda
10 paper-thin half moon slices of cucumber

Pour gin, Pimm’s and lemonade into tall Collins glass, then add a few ice cubes and a splash of 7-Up. Finish with cucumber slices.

Dark and Stormy. It's so awesome. So so good, and simple to make if you have the right ingredients.

Another really good one I had recently that they serve at Pusser's Landing in Annapolis is a Painkiller. I even have a mug with the recipe on it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Painkiller_(cocktail)

2, 3 or 4 ounces of dark rum
4 ounces of pineapple juice
1 ounce cream of coconut
1 ounce of orange juice.

Served on the rocks with nutmeg on top.

Both of these are really great.

Order a water. On the rocks. With a straw.

Order it like you mean it.

Order it like a BAWSS.

Well, I love beer, but that's not really what I'm looking for here. I've been trying various microbrews and foreign beers to find some of my favorites. One of the best is Midas Touch by Dogfish Head (but it's also 12-14 bucks for a 4 pack). But beer is different because I'm limited to what's on tap, which cuts down on variety.

I've never even heard of Pimms No. 1. This sounds interesting, but I'm having a bit of difficulty picturing what this would taste like.

BTW, thanks for all the suggestions. I still have a lot to think about (or I could just try every single one ;) ).

You can't go wrong with the classic whiskey sour.

Irish car bombs are good, and one that I've only fairly recently been introduced to is a liquid marijuana.

BTW, off topic, but I've heard it's considered offensive to refer to an Irish Car Bomb by that name in the UK (for obvious reasons, I would assume). Is that true and do they have another name for it?

Catracho Coffee

2 shots Dark Rum
1 shot Coffee Liquor
1 shot Cane Syrup (you can sub in 1/2 shot molasses)

shake with ice.
