Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

Well I'm a first time watcher of NCIS and I really like this show!!!! I couldn't believe that black guy took over after Lauren Holly's character died and sent off Gibb's team to seperate assignments!!!! Did anyone else's mouth drop at the end??? I say that I will be watching this show in the near future!! I love Mark Hammon and that Tony guy(who I call the funny guy cause he's dang hilarious!) And I also like the gothic girl too. :)

So this is your first episode? Wow. Go and rent/buy the previous seasons. They're just as good (this wasn't even the best of their finales as good as it was!).

Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

Awesome episode! Awesome finale! I did NOT like Jenny (or Lauren Holly for that matter, but I digress again) but it was definitely a great way for her to go out.

And yeah, the ending, WTF?????? I can't wait for next season! *sigh* I should have waited a couple of months and kept this one on the DVR.....neh, I would have gone nuts wondering what happened.

*sigh* Mark Harmon is soooooooooooooooooooo yummy! Old enough to be my father? Pppfffttt! I say, with age comes wisdom....he'd probably be able to...... *ahem* Nevermind.

Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

I wonder what was on the paper that the new director took out of the file and shredded. I figured that Jenny would be offed when they kept bringing in the assistant director in over several episodes. It just seemed odd that a new character came out of nowhere like that. I think the team will be back together within the first three episodes jut like when Gibbs left and came back it took a few episodes to have him back as team leader.

Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

She was the most obvious cast member who would want out, I guess.
What was silly was that this whole "spook" stuff still isn't over. Vance has his own secrets - dum dum dum.
Of course, the whole breaking up the team cliffhanger ending is one of the cheaper ones, but at least it wasn't as stupid as watching Kate take a bullet to the head.
My guess is that the show will jump forward some time and for "some reason" they all get back together.
A murder involving a computer on the USS Ronald Reagan which happens to be near Israel at the time. :p
At least the whole Frog thing was resolved and that whole arc is pretty much done.

Honestly though, if they do introduce three new characters, I hope they don't just appear for an episode and then "move to another team" or whatever.

Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

I enjoyed this episode. I'm glad Jenny was the character to get killed, she was my least favorite on the show. Plus she had a great death, which is always a plus.

I though the cliffhanger was a little weak, but overall an enjoyable episode.

A murder involving a computer on the USS Ronald Reagan which happens to be near Israel at the time. :p
Actually that would be pretty cool.

Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

We finally got to see Ziva in a bikini and then we barely got to see her in it. Bummer. :(

Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

Will the three newbies all be Chicago Hope alum? :)

Actually, McGee, Tony and Ziva are all off the show now. This is CBS's way of franchising -- NCIS: Cybercrime on Wednesdays, NCIS: Overseas on Thursdays, and NCIS: Israel on Fridays.

This was your first episode? Wow, you might be in for a disappointment if you watch the first five seasons. Not that they're all bad, but there's a lot of formula to the cases, which are actually secondary to the characters interacting with one another. Most of them just won't be as intense as this finale.

Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

You'll also find that in the first two seasons, they had a much better female outsider teammate. ;)

Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

Good episode, liked the fact that it was Jenny. Not thrilled that they got split up, but that won't last.

NNNOOOOO!

Don't they already have CSI?
THAT WAS YUMMY

COTE IS BEAUTIFUL

MORE ZIVA MORE OF THE TIME!

I was thinking Abby. I liked Jenny and thought she was TTOOOOOO obvious.
What was silly was that this whole "spook" stuff still isn't over. Vance has his own secrets - dum dum dum.
And a nifty shredder :)
Of course, the whole breaking up the team cliffhanger ending is one of the cheaper ones, but at least it wasn't as stupid as watching Kate take a bullet to the head.
It may be cheap, but to me it makes sense. I'm sorry, but the team made it clear to him that their loyalties are not to NCIS, not to him as the newly installed director, but to Gibbs. That can be VERY damaging in a real life crisis. The team withheld pertinent information from the new director, even when it became obvious that he too wanted to find out what had happened and punish Jenny's killers.
My guess is that the show will jump forward some time and for "some reason" they all get back together.
Yeah, but I hope they spend a good chunk of the new season working apart. Vance can be disposed of, and as a "reward," Jethro is allowed to put his team back together.

Works for me... I love NCIS for the characters just as much as for the story.
At least the whole Frog thing was resolved and that whole arc is pretty much done.
I hope so.
Honestly though, if they do introduce three new characters, I hope they don't just appear for an episode and then "move to another team" or whatever.
Same here. I would like to see a 7-10 episode arc with a new team... Maybe even make 1 or 2 recurring characters.
Awesome episode! Awesome finale! I did NOT like Jenny (or Lauren Holly for that matter, but I digress again) but it was definitely a great way for her to go out.
I liked the tension she had with Jethro and that she too could interact naturally with Ducky. I didn't like her sudden illness.

ME TOO! I WANT NCIS SPOILERS NOW
*sigh* Mark Harmon is soooooooooooooooooooo yummy! Old enough to be my father? Pppfffttt! I say, with age comes wisdom....he'd probably be able to...... *ahem* Nevermind.
Great finale. I'm sure the team will be back together next year but so many more questions:

1- What will come of Gibbs' new investigation of the Frog's killing? Nothing? I don't think so since Kort is still out there.
2- What was the insurance policy?
3- What did the new Director shred?
1-Nothing. I hope they are done with it
2-That's a good question
3-I am thinking something critical that Jenny had about Vance about his recent stint as NCIS Acting Director. Anyone with a great HIDEF care to read it. I had to watch it here at work on Itunes!
All I want to know is what was in that old NCIS case file from 1984?

Obviously it predates everyone in the series except for Mike Franks who stole it.
I am sure that somehow it will be used to reunite the team.
^ What she said!
It's like you two should be married or something!
Okay, I just finished watching it. And after seeing that ending, all I can say is WTF??
Almost my same sentiment.
Am I terrible for wanting to know who dies before I decide whether to watch it or not? :p ;)
I've been searching like crazy on the 'net and couldn't find the spoiler before I saw it!

For the love of GOD, please let them kill off Director Shephard!!!
Wow... Can you wish $1,000,000 for me!

Jenny actually sets up some crossovers when her doctor brothers Jack and Derek try to find out the truth about her death. :)

Well, I have watched this show before..just a few episodes though. But I really enjoy it cause it's always fast paced and the technology that is used for the murders is spectacular! I probably won't watch the previous seasons. Mom is a huge fan of the show and I watched it with her cause she said someone was gonna die. Plus I have an aunt that watches it as well and she called when Lauren Holly died. :) Mom knows more about TV shows..I know more about movies. :) Anyway, this wasn't my first episode..I've watched it a few times.

Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

I've watched NCIS intermittently over the years and decided to watch this episode based partly off what I'd read about in TV Guide; sounded like it would be one of hell of a ride.

And it was.

Even as an extremely casual fan of the show, I had a feeling that Lauren Holly's character would be the one to go. Out of curiousity, did it have to do with Holly herself? I remember her lamenting on an occasion in a magazine interview about the demands of TV work and the time it sapped from spending with her family. In fact, she always struck me as someone wired like Michelle Forbes -- never really willing to fully devote themselves to TV because of the demands. It's why Forbes has never done her own TV show, and even turned down playing Ro on DS9. Just didn't want to make the commitment. Maybe Holly was just ready to move on.

Anyway, even though CBS's dramas are some of the best TV shows out there, something they've always seemed to struggle with is balancing characters and plot. It took CSI a good many seasons before it got this balance right. And it's the crown jewel of CBS's scripted shows. NCIS, however, has always seemed to get this balance right; the finale was a good example of this. The interplay between the characters is always fun to watch and the stories are usually good enough to hold your interest. Kudos the writers. They make it look easy.

(And speaking of characters on the show, I like McGee. In an age where many casts are loaded with model-quality actors and actresses, McGee is a rather normal-looking guy, and that's refreshing.)

In the end, NCIS may not be perfect (Sorry, but I've always found Harmon to be a little too detatched and expressionless. If I watched the show more often, maybe I'd be more accepting of this. At any rate, he's lucky he has such a colorful cast behind him) but it always seems to be good, and after tonight's finale, I think I'll consider becoming a more regular watcher when it comes back.

Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

I didn't like the finale, but then again I thought it was a weak season overall anyway. The frog stuff really damped it down for me.

I didn't like Jenny's death because it seemed out of character for her, Tony and Ziva. And Gibbs, since he apparently knew the dead guy and didn't go to the funeral with Jenny.

I don't like Vance.

I really don't like the way this show, like Buffy, seems to destroy itself in every season finale and then waste 3 - 6 episodes of the next season rebuilding. It gets old.

And, was Gibbs just going to stand there and get shot or what?

It's not like Lauren Holly is the first actress to leave NCIS in a body bag. I read that Belissario was a pissed when Sasha Alexander (supposedly didn't want to TV and to get into movies) wanted to leave hence the nature of her exit but I've also read that it was pre-ordained and that she was going to be leaving anwy

^

As I said, I've only watched the show intermittently, so there very well could be reasons for Holly's departure other than the ones I mentioned.

Re: NCIS: "Judgment Day" 5/20 - 2-hour season finale! Grading & Discus

Sasha Alexander was in Mission: Impossible III for like 10 seconds. That's not a step up.

I'll be attaked for this but I really enjoyed the Frog plotline.

You won't be attacked by me....I kind of liked it too. I thought it was stupid how obsessed the director was about him in general but the story itself was interesting.
