After a shocking reveal, the NCIS team if forced to prevent the heist of government secrets by using information from questionable sources.
TV's hottest drama is getting so hot, it may split in two; reports says CBS is pondering a second NCIS.

Here's a winning strategy: make a procedural cop show, give it an acronym title, and brand the heck out of it! That certainly worked for CBS' CSI, and the network is thinking about doing the same thing to NCIS.

According to EW.com, CBS is "quietly" working on a spin-off of NCIS with the hopes that there is still room for yet another crime procedural on the network. Why NCIS? The show, currently in its sixth season, has been kicking some serious tail in the ratings department this year, recently pulling in more than 18 million viewers.

According to a chatty source, NCIS will add some more Navy internal-affairs-type people to an upcoming episode, and then set them off to start their own show, possibly next fall. Everything else dealing with the show is still up in the air.

CBS was previously reported to be developing a spin-off of Criminal Minds, but no further news has come to light about that possible move.

There is more to the Gibbs/Vance relationship than we know if you ask me.

I was rewatching the death of jenny eps today and the interactions between Gibbs, Vance, and Franks...

I get the feeling that we are seeing three parts of gibbs past team. Franks was gibbs, gibbs was DiNozzo, Vance was McGee....

What say you.

I'm not sure that I would even bother with a second NCIS. Many times I don't even follow the plots that much. I just like the interaction between the characters. That's why I don't bother with any of the CSI clones - I don't really like any of the characters.
It would be an amazing stroke of luck for them to catch lightning in a bottle twice.
They can certainly prove me wrong though.

How about a prequel back when Gibbs was Dinozzo, Jenny was Kate, Vance was McGee, Franks was Gibbs and Ducky was... Ducky.

I would actually like a show that's supposed to be about the Navy go back to being about the Navy. Either they're off doing CIA stuff or the cases happen to be marginally related to military personnel.
Oh look, this guy's cousin's father's uncle was a Marine in WW2 and he's dead! Send NCIS! :p

As for this week's episode, I figured that they'd kill Lee off to sort of have a neat bow tie on the ending. I just thought that stupid slow motion nod at the end was a bit too much. Like I get it, she's sacrificing herself... she's a good person now and she's redeeming herself for killing Langer!
I dunno, I just think the way they resolved this arc seemed pretty inconsistent with the way it was set up, from Lee being an emotionless super spy to her being a crybaby. Ah well.

How about a show about Navy SEALs? It can be a joint spinoff of both NCIS and The Unit. :p

I got it.. a show about Navy Lawyers, the Judge Advocate General office. The acronym sounds neat - JAG.

Nah, that wouldn't work.

The obvious answer is to do a Navy medical show, which I believe someone joked about last week.

I still say it'll be NCIS: San Diego. :p And even though I don't want to break up the team, I kind of feel like DiNozzo's earned his own team (again). I think I'd rather see a spinoff starring him than one starring a bunch of new characters.

They should put him on a ship and make it a modern day Star Trek. They can do bottle episodes on a carrier and then once in a while he's in a "landing party" at port. ;)

I would like more "on ship" stuff... and a little more interaction with the JAG corp :D

Well, Gibbs team is supposed to take special response, the best of the best if you would, and fighting terrorism is one of responsibilities of the current NCIS

Some times they stretch it, but it's generally a decent story, so I am willing to go with it

I would have liked to have seen Gibbs let her leave with the girl. Give Lee the chance to be with her daughter that he never got with Kelly
I just thought that stupid slow motion nod at the end was a bit too much.
Yeah, that was a bit much
Like I get it, she's sacrificing herself... she's a good person now and she's redeeming herself for killing Langer!
She made sure her daughter was safe... once she heard that in the ear wig, even she didn't matter to herself.

Crybaby? Nah, I liked the ending. The girl was safe, and that's all Lee cared about.

I don't think there's too much more. They seem to be about the same term of service in NCIS... Likely they came up the ranks together (maybe Gibbs outranked Vance at one point) but we can all see that Gibbs would be an awful director and Vance seems to be doing a great job

is like an old team together... I like it

I say you are right!

As a Trek fan, allow me to say this: NO PREQUELS!
I got it.. a show about Navy Lawyers, the Judge Advocate General office. The acronym sounds neat - JAG.

Nah, that wouldn't work.
It just might... But you know the network won't like it and they'll likely cancel it after 1 season!

The whole thing felt like a retcon, which is why the story didn't matter to me. Gibbs' thing with children is bordering on a joke because they rely on it so much and the whole idea that Lee did everything for her sister/daughter felt extremely contrived, to the point where they even had to spend time in the show to show that the characters didn't even see that coming.

I just hope they bring some new writers on board and don't fall into the Stargate trap of trying to work on double the amount of episodes per year, resulting in a drop of quality for both the current and spin-off show

Maybe the next show can be Gibbs and Rabb teaming up. Like Simon and Simon. Or Starsky and Hutch.

do you have kids?

I don't see the relevance to be honest. I mean, if Gibbs was based on a real life character, sure. But as far as I know, he's a construct. He likes to build boats in his basement, likes to have sex with redheads and he goes crazy for kids in the same way that most people go crazy for sick puppies on the street.

My only problem is that it's become such an inherent character quirk that it's almost as meaningless as Dinozzo's constant movie references, Ziva's constant colloquial malapropisms and McGee's generally nerdery. It loses any dramatic impact and just becomes a tool the writers use whenever they want to show Gibbs feel sad or motivated.

I give this one an 'above average'.

The ending was kinda lame (especially the bit when Lee basically gave Gibbs permission to shoot her) and I didn't believe for a nanosecond that whole "I have a kid..well, really a sister...well, really an adopted sister...." I was waiting for her to bump it down to 'a friend of a friend' by the end of it. :p And finally, I still don't get exactly what Gibbs didn't get - why she didn't come to him to begin with. I mean, by now she should get that Gibbs & Co. will save the day and they are smarter than...well, pretty much everyone else on earth.

However, despite these pieces of lameness, I did like the character interaction very much (which is really the best thing about the show), I liked the differing levels of hatred exhibited for Lee by the team members (gave you interesting perspective), I liked the whole premise of a mole in NCIS, and I liked the twist with the guy who turned out to be the mastermind.

That, combined with the fact that even a bad episode of NCIS is better than most of what is on TV got me to an 'above average'.

Lee's overall plan made no sense. She killed two people -- one a federal agent -- in the process!

I wonder if Palmer's sad he didn't get to hit that one last time before she died. :p
